Oh they're frigging brilliant, all right. Did they finally figure out how to build an aircraft carrier? :lol;
Sir, we are talking about cars. They are well behind at building aircraft carriers, but that’s why they are building artificial islands everywhere, which are unsinkable, but not very mobile. Nukes aside, the US destroys them even with the population advantage.

The US auto industry needs a reset.
Rather than snickering a truck for $70K and discounting it to $50K, just sticker it for $50K.

auto companies are not very good. They are screwing the consumer
Yep. They’re trained to say “couldn’t find nothing wrong” until the warranty expires. Around that time, they’ll find the$10k problem.

Speaking of entertaining, I just say frick it, and blitzkrieg our way to Ottawa and get it over with. We gave them a chance to become a US state, but they instead threw a hissy fit and stomped around with our other allies. So as punishment, they become a US territory instead and that way we can avoid the electoral votes.

Ford alone employees about 12,000 folks in my area. Why they have their issues, I certainly don’t want those folks unemployed.
I heard a clip where Ford’s CEO said that they were pretty insulated from tariffs because 80% of the components they use are made in the US. Now how true was that statement when 90-95% of all electronic equipment or chips are manufactured overseas.

Dear diary,
I want a Chinese BYD car/suv that’s more reliable with features well ahead of its time at half the price of the crap I can get here in the US.
So why protect the US auto industry from itself? They let us down before the bailout and have let us down again by going back to becoming unreliable shite boxes.
Don't you know that...
No matter what the car is, if it ain't made in the US of A you should not be buying it...no matter how good it is....no matter how inexpensive it is.....no matter how fuel efficient it is....no matter how low maintenance it is.....no matter how many state of the art or modern features it has.....
Buy American! Be American!

Lolno. Unless you like dying of whatever weird cancers their manufacturing process puts into their products, no, no, you don't.
I'm old enough to remember this.

I have a feeling that trump is going to make your wish come true
He’s going to negotiate a deal to sell the Chinese cars here

That is not what the manmade islands are for.
They are to grab up more territorial waters, not act as airbases.

Not wholly true. The last bailout resulted in no changes because of the poor leadership of the sitting president at the time. The auto industry as well as the 'other' industries had better realize that Team Trump will likely not be supportive of them getting fat and lazy.

That was the business model about 20 years ago...in the last 5-10 years the business model has been to sticker it at $70K and add a $25K dealer markup to the sticker price. Coupled with them finding a way to finance them for anyone with a pulse for 10 and 12 years and here we are....

I’m still just trying to figure out a way to put the equivalent of tariffs on outsourced IT jobs. Those jobs are more important than blue collar, white trash ones, but I may be biased.
