Heard that on radio tonight. 16th is USCw who is worse than us in conference play

Possibly more so than any other sport, basketball these days is gonna be about buying talent.

So next year when we suck again, they will be able to say " well it's his first year really knowing about how important NIL money is " and then they will give him some more years to frick the program

There is no credible source that has any citation for their numbers. It's all conjecture and hearsay.

No. Because there is no official data to confirm this statement. It’s just BS floated out there by the AD to justify an incredibly poor decision. Isn’t it a bit “odd” South Carolina is the one team behind LSU in that category who also happens to be the only team behind in the standings? If you believe this BS then you also have to believe either South Carolina miraculously over-achieved last season relative to their lowly NIL status OR the donors that helped fund their program’s best season in 7 years collectively decided before this season to say “Nah, we are going to pass on basketball this year (even though they gave the HC an extension and significant salary increase).

If you pull one small thread the “logic” of this latest narrative to justify the worst 3 years stretch of basketball history since Trent Johnson stoically roamed the sidelines the latest excuse quickly falls apart

I don't see a modern world where LSU will be able to compete in anything in NIL. It's coming for every sport. Football... baseball.. Everything.

The fact basketball is 15th in NIL is devastating.

Seriously doubt it but Florida is rumored to be 13th and they’re not having any problems.

There's no way of knowing what any school is paying for any sport in NIL. None of this stuff is readily available public information

We went from a system where everything was done behind closed doors to a new system where they just said it's ok to do everything behind closed doors. Makes no sense to be so secretive about all of the actual numbers.

Obviously Vanderbilt is a very wealthy university but I have serious doubts their NIL is strong. Plenty of elite private schools have alumni bases that couldn’t care less.

There is a lot of illegal activity that’s started around NIL and they don’t want money trails. That’s why it’s being hidden.

Yeah and it’s directly related to our standings.

I for one don’t really donate to MBB just because I rather allocate those donations to football first then baseball and anything left over goes back to football.

We’ll all be McMen forever with this mindset although I suspect it’s the prevailing thought of most LSU fans so I can’t blame you personally.

Not surprised it needed to be published.

CMM is playing with transfer portal players. I believe fountain is the only first year CMM player left on the roster. Ward and Reed would have been but imagine their locker is taken.

No clue if more nil money would help. Just know sears and carter graduations will leave the tigers in the same place as last year.

You've come to the right place. The dingdongs that post here every day about the MBB dilemma have much better insight and information than anyone at LSU.

This is certainly possible, but I’d think being last in NIL is an even worse look for an AD instead of who he hired

If that is true an we are 15th in NIL in a 16 team SEC then MM is doing the best he can with the resources they give him.

I'm no MM fan but 15th out of 16? How do we expect him to put a top team on the floor?

NIL budget is just an easy excuse to give McMahon another year.

There may not be enough talent on the roster to win the SEC or a national championship, but there should be enough to just make the tournament, and going 3 years without making an NCAA tournament appearance should be unacceptable.

Recruiting ranking per 247:

2022:
Overall - 17th
Composite - 17th
Transfer - 11th
SEC - 5th

2023:
Overall - 47th
Composite - 50th
Transfer - 17th
SEC - 10th

2024:
Overall - 16th
Composite - 14th
Transfer - 63rd
SEC - 5th
