List feels more like something someone who stopped listening to music in the 90s would make regardless I’m sure this board will have fun with it

10. AC/DC
9. Metallica
8. The Eagles
7. Van Halen
6. The Rolling Stones
5. The Jimi Hendrix Experience
4. Pink Floyd
3. Queen
2. The Beatles
1. Led Zeppelin

At least the Beatles aren’t #1, that’s something I guess.

Some confusing placements/choices like any list, but the generic structure is more or less "correct". Bands who should be near the top generally are. Not how I would do it, but its opinion anyway so meh.

Metallica and Van Halen don’t belong here and are just a bone thrown for Gen x

I know he died young and he gets points for dei but Jimi Hendrix only had like 4 songs and his best songs were written by other people

Were the oak ridge boys not included because they’re country?

ETA: The Beach Boys should be top of this list. Help me Rhonda is better than anything the rest of these bands made

Not a bad list. There aren't any I would say clearly don't belong.

Alice in chains, Sound garden, Pearl Jam, STP, and Smashing Pumpkins could replace several listed for me. Even though I'm not a big fan, ROCP also. I know rock music changed a lot but probably at least a couple from late 90's -2000's should have made it. Blink 182?

You meant this as a joke but in fact "Rhonda" is better than anything over half these acts put out

Queen was nowhere near the level of songwriting or musicianship as Pink Floyd. Not even remotely close.

The Band is a criminal omission.

It's music so feathers will be ruffled and quilts will be soiled but it's not too far off IMO. My tweaks:

- Pink and Queen are too high.
- The Who belongs (would bump Metallica or AC/DC - you pick).
- Jimi's influence on rock guitar was profound. But as for rock musical greatness, it's more restricted. I would replace Jimi with Skynyrd or the Doors.

Aerosmith at 30? I think they are top 10 and maybe 5. They adjusted with the times. Their 70's sound is different from the '80's sound. Plus they stayed together as a whole. The Beatles pretty much sounded the same, song to song.

The Eagles were easy listening.

Van Halen was a fad and hit the 80's at the right time and was a bit glamorous with the hair and DLR as the front man.

They're in the top 10 because Eddie changed the entire landscape of rock guitar playing overnight. Same thing as Hendrix and the Experience. Like their act or not, they belong near the top simply because of that fact.
