How much do you pay per month for daycare?

My wife and I are trying to make it on one salary so she can stay home and take care of our son as a stay-at-home mom.
It’s been really difficult trying to make it on one salary though. There’s always unexpected medical bills and other expenses that aren’t factored into the budget. We’ve only been doing it for like 3 months so it’s hard to tell whether or not it will work and whether or not the unexpected expenses will continue. We’re going to wait until June to decide if she should go back to work or not.
If she does go back to work, then I guess we’ll have no choice but to put my child in daycare. I really don’t want to do that though. It really sucks and I don’t trust anyone else to watch my child.
How much are you guys who have both spouses working having to pay for daycare monthly?
(Edit: I’m in the Bayou Region of South Louisiana.)

$975 for a local church's daycare. 4 years old. It was more as a baby, but it gets cheaper as they get older and the caretaker ratio drops.

What are they providing your kid that could possibly be worth that much value

You might want to include what city or town you live in. Prices vary place to place

My wife was a stay at home mom. (Kids are grown now) You have to know going in that you're going to make some sacrifices. Instead of a Tahoe, you'll be driving a Camry. Instead of a brand new house, you may need to get a fixer-upper. In the end it was totally worth it.

It's about the market rate for my area.

Have you guys considered having her go to work part time and using a Mother's Day Out, rather than a full daycare? That's what we do, we toured all of the daycares around us and didn't like any of them. The MDO felt completely different.
Our daughter goes to MDO 3 days a week from 9-3 and it's ~$350 a month.

I pay $1650/month in Metairie for private school for a three year old. That doesn't include the optional $9/day for lunch.

It was about $1k per kid at British Private Prep, although the last one aged out about five years ago.
Your woman has to stay the hell off of social media, they'll convince her that the only school good enough for munchkin is $2500 a month. I think it's actually good for a kid after a few months. They need to get as many varied interactions with both odd adults and kids as possible.
I will warn you to look at the demographics of the other enrolled kids. One Asian subsect was absolutely notorious for sending their kids to school with untreated lice and kids who had green runny noses, but they had "taken her temperature" before leaving school and it was normal. At least in the latter cases, they called the parents to come pick the kid back up.
Your kid will get sick, but they're going to get sick anyway. It's good for 'em. And make sure there are bollards between the parking lot and the classrooms. You don't want to know why (different sect of Asian driver.)

I know its expensive, but didn't know how expensive. Holy shite! $22,500 a year.
When kids start school and then have to go to the baby sitter after school, does the cost go down?

It doesn't get any cheaper later. Travel ball and travel cheer is an arm and a leg.
