Anything in the portulaca/moss rose family is zero maintenance around here.

+1 for lantana. You can pair it with a butterfly bush for even more color

I always do variegated colors of vinca in my east facing beds. I buy them in the spring and they last me until the freeze which was last week. They get morning/noon sun and full shade in the afternoon. They’re very drought tolerant as well. During the drought last year, I only watered them a handful of times.

I’ll do snapdragons in the winter too sometimes. They’re quite easy.

It necessarily what you’re asking, but the best thing I’ve potted this past few years is Coleus. Super easy to maintain outside and have one of the biggest I’ve seen that sprouted from a runt.

I planted some Supertunia Vista Bubblegum last yr in a bed and they took off, almost like a ground cover. Will plant again this yr.

In my Midwest suburban neighborhood, only marigolds. The ever growing, even with targeted city culling, the deer eat everything else. Even the hostas get chewed back.

“Blue daze” morning glories are super easy. Mine get full sun all day and even drape over onto the driveway and the hot concrete doesn’t burn them. When the leaves get a little off color I throw some fertilizer on them. I’m in the process of cutting them down to the ground this weekend. It took until mid January for them to look cruddy.

Dianthas did pretty well this year. I wacked them back aggressively when they got lanky and they kept coming back and flowering all the way into late fall.

The bees love the lantanas and mine have been transplanted all over the yard and still thrive.

If you plant lantana, get the smaller/sterile kind or else you'll have monstrous weedy beasts to pull up everywhere in your yard.

+ 1 to coneflower especially if you like tea
I love canna lillies & bearded irises - put em in a wet, sunny spot and they'll do the rest. You can even plant together. We have irises in the spring and cannas all summer & fall

We have a dog and many lantana plants. I've never observed the dog eating or chewing on it. Do some dogs chew on or eat this plant? Is it attractive to them?

As with anything, some dogs will never chew or tear up anything, some will chew up everything.
I don't think Lantana, (or for that sake oleander or sago palms, all of which could be lethal) is necessarily "attractive" to most dogs, but as I say, some dogs will chew up anything.
We had a chihuahua that ate some Lantana that sent her kidneys into shock and quite frankly should have died. She barely recovered. Learned a lot creatinine levels, etc.
