Lake Charles just avoided a solar field ruining people's property values but it was a long hard fight by the people it would have affected. Glad to see this BS stop

Federally subsidizing these industries is a total waste.

Solar fields kill animals? Are folks putting up solar fields in residentially-zoned neighborhoods? Can’t say I understand this.

Duke Power is the only power company pretty much here in NC.

Just googled how much of their energy production comes from renewables.

We have a bunch of solar farms here. Gov. McCrory, our last on only R gov in a long time), had NC as #2 in the country during his term for installing alternative energy systems. This was back in the 2010s.

So here's the quote from google.

quote:

According to Duke Energy's 2021 ESG report, only about 2% of their electricity generation comes from solar power, representing a small portion of their overall energy mix which is primarily composed of fossil fuels like coal and natural gas.

And this quote for how much space it all takes up.

quote:

North Carolina has more than 700 solar farms spanning nearly 35,000 acres, predominantly in rural communities, according to the NC Sustainable Energy Association. The state ranks fourth in the nation in total solar power generation and solar generating capacity, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

All that for 2%. Makes you wonder.

35,000 acres is equal to 55 sq miles.

Yes. You can google for a more extensive list but they kill birds and insects from the heat it puts off.

Yes the one that got canceled here would have had a lot of neighbors. Not a neighborhood since it was in the outskirts of town but plenty of neighbors. Imagine living close to one of these in a hurricane. The shrapnel would be insane.

We have to kill the whales to save the planet in order to save the whales.

This kind of insane logic permeates the leftist communist progressive mind.

The law of unintended consequences blossoms when group think individuals lack all critical thinking skills.

They absolutely do. They built a solar farm on property down the road from my ranch and destroyed 6000 acres of native rangeland and forest to do it. Bulldozed down every tree and shrub, leveled the ground and then rocked it with caliche. What was once a beautiful piece of nature is now barren of any plant or animal

This may affect me. A private company can't build a solar farm now? Point me to the EO. It is well documented the harmful affects of those big windmills.

But I don't think solar or wind farms should be outlawed. I support banning those monster windmills that currently exist. But what if some of the other less ugly, less harmful to wildlife, no noise, etc are somehow made more efficient? Probably will never happen and so it would have the same effect. So ban the problem, not the whole class.

Solar panels are getting more efficient all the time. The don't destroy the neighbors property like windfarms CURRENTLY do.

Yes but it isn't your property. Solar doesn't harm your property. Wind does. The noise is proven harmful as one example.

Seems like a pretty low risk for birds outside of one of those large solar towers that get hit with reflective mirrors.

If you live outside of a town you assume that risk from a lack of zoning imo.

These seem like very poor reasons to axe solar energy.
