I hate Casinos. Seeing your brother going down a path of addiction sucks.

I absolutely despise Casinos. Taking people already down, chewing them up, and spitting them back out with a smile on their face and a free room and some free play. It’s a nasty business, and one designed to rob you of as much money as possible and build the addiction of not just the games, but the “community” of friendly faces leading you down the path to self destruction.
I’m watching my brother deal with alcoholism and an addiction to gambling, which seem to go hand in hand and make each other more destructive. I know that “he should just be more mentally strong” and I wish he was, but until you have a family member go through this, you don’t know how you would actually feel.
It’s a giant, disgusting trap. Gambling should be legal I guess, but it should have to be done down at some empty ballroom and without all the traps and perks that keep poor people throwing money into it. This is my own emotional response to it. When you’re pulling your drunk brother out of there @ 3 AM when he’s dropping spin after spin on “Panda King” it changes you.
ETA: It’s almost the same idea with some bars that watch their regulars drink themselves to death. Yeah, it’s personal responsibility, but it’s a fricking sad business.

I sincerely hope your brother gets the help he needs. Ultimately, he has to be the one who decides to stop.

Sorry you are dealing with this, but you can’t blame the casinos just like you can’t blame the makers and sellers of alcohol.

Thankfully My HOA banned Panda King as well as lotto tickets

The alcohol is more than likely the real problem here. You should try to talk to him about that.
Or, next you have to drag him out of a casino or bar at 3AM you should just beat the ever living shite out of him, then tell him you love him and bring him to rehab.
That’s what I did to my younger brother a year or so ago and he’s been sober since. He just needed some real consequences.

Payday loans
Bars
Casinos
All absolutely should be legal. All absolutely takes a low life personality to own and operate one

I know it’s up to him and only he can help himself. I also used to be a lot harsher in the way I viewed addictions of all sorts before it affected my family. I’ve found a balance between the two, it’s just hard when it’s family.

See if he’ll agree to getting the casino to blacklist him so he can’t enter
It definitely takes willpower to stop gambling. Especially as you’re chasing losses only for it to snowball downhill.

Having any addiction sucks. But the combination you are speaking of is awful. I’ve never been a gambler but I am a recovering alcoholic. I’m lucky I have so far beaten those demons, but I have to keep staying my course. Try to get your brother some help before something you can’t help him with happens.

You should have a conversation with the rest of the OT. This place hasn’t found a problem yet that lifting weights and not eating fast food won’t fix.

Fixing your mental and physical health does usually work. That is correct

Sorry that your brother is weak.
Probably stems from having a weak father. Not sure how you made it this far, but congrats I guess.

2024/2025 where we don’t blame the actual person making the decisions. Millions of people can enjoy casinos responsible so it might be your brothers issues not the casinos.
