In lsu history? It has to be near the top. I’m talking top to bottom two deeps.

Somewhere around 3 or 4

So we’ll call it about 3.50

No where near the top historicaly but i don't think anyone in the SEC is great. All schools have holes or are thin at certain positions.

Which years were more talented? 2011? 2019?

I think you’re trolling but if you’re not, you do realize that one of the best in portal doesn’t necessarily equate to one of the best in the country, right?

On paper?

QB - top 5 in LSU history, all things considered
RB - TBD. Durham and Berry could be great, but Berry is unproven
WR - TBD. Should be better than last year, but still a little below the standard that's been set for the last 20 years.
TE - TBD. Green can be great. Sharp should be decent. Lafleur will block. Limited depth
OT - Inexperienced but has potential
IOL - Should be elite with transfers in

EDGE - Should be very good with portal additions plus younger guys
DE - Can be elite if young guys improve
DT - Should be very good with a good, deep room
LB - Should be elite if Keys/Weeks improve as they did throughout the year
Safety - MASSIVE question mark. Perk can make a big difference if he buys in. Have potential with Spears. Need another
CB - should be elite with Pickett + Woodland +Stamps + transfers

K - Average by LSU standards
P - Need more. Awful in '24
KR - Elite
PR - Elite

Based off of high draft picks, I would say those two along with 2003, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2012.

Is Pickett day 1 all SEC corner?
Does Durham improve and turn into the next Guice/CEH level running back?
Is there a stud on the interior DL?

Too many unknowns to compare

Just from a talent standpoint? looking back 20 years, the following teams can be considered, on paper, as good or better than the '25 team.

05
06
07
10
11
12
15 - Look at the Defense
16 - Look at the Defense
18
19

This team, from a pure talent prospective, looks to be about middle of the road as far as LSU football since 2005. Now, everyone in CFB has taken a step back, so this isn't to say they're worse than those teams in comparison to their competition.

Will be the norm in the NIL / Portal era.

Well stated. I think the 2025 team is talented enough to make the playoffs, But let’s pump the brakes a little. We get a handful of Honorable Mention All Conference transfer and some our fans think it’s 2019 all over again.

Y’all are delusional. We don’t have a top player at any position. We have guys coming in who have never played together before. Again. What makes you think they’ll be great? Kids transfer for a reason. Being on our roster doesn’t make them great.

If Nuss avoids turning the ball over, he is really freaking good.

His turnovers the second half the season were really bad, though. That can be the difference between a playoff team and 8-4.

It's amazing how this board goes from 'LSU is a dumpster fire, Kelly has destroyed the program' to 'most units on the team are now elite and we're positioned to be a favorite for a national championship next year' in the span of a couple of weeks.

I think we've improved some key areas, but there are still questions, particularly with OL coaching and the offensive scheme (which are probably related). I'm taking a wait and see attitude and will reassess after the Clemson game.

Tons of "should be" and "potential" in those unit assessments. That is not a criticism but just saying "the jury is still out". I don't think Nussmeier is top 5 in LSU history. Tittle and Van Buren were before my time but add in B Jones, T Hodson, Daniels, and Burrow would push him out of the top 5. His long passes are inaccurate and of course he has shown 0 ability to run the ball even with yards of green in front of him.

Biggageauxilla said it best in another post "No where near the top historically but i don't think anyone in the SEC is great. All schools have holes or are thin at certain positions" Exactly right...there is not a team in the SEC for sure that doesn't have some weaknesses. LSU's this season were just obvious...no good safeties and the OL couldn't run block. And the punting was literally high school caliber!!!! I still say if LSU quit the read option which we all know is no option at all with Nussmeier never keeping the ball, the OL wouldn't have to block as long if they just pitched the ball or did a straight handoff.

Trey Parker wrote that joke so long ago that he is almost senile and has no recollection of ever writing it. Let it go. Dirt and that joke are the same age.
