Does griff really think they can turn the season around? Why bring these players back?

Why are we bringing zion and others back? Is it because they're trying to save their job? There's no way we will make the playoff. Why are they trying to miss the tank job up?

If we make a run and the players look really good, might be easier to trade some.

If the players are healthy you have to play them.

There’s no messing up the tank job at this point. we will be picking top 10 no matter what.

We have to trade BI. We can’t let him leave for nothing, would be a disaster.

Top 10 and top 3 aren't the same thing. We need to pick top 3.

no way he thinks they can turn this around. Last year to just get in the play in, it took 46 wins. For the pels to achieve this they would have to go 41-11 down the stretch, which would be a 64 win pace. Even if .500 was enough, they’d need to win at roughly a 57 win pace. Either way it exceeds even the wildest expectations you could have for this team.

If they suddenly morph back into the team they were last year and win at the same pace, they’d be 36-46, which would probably get us the 10th pick in the draft. It’s just mathematically impossible for this team to turn it around at this point

I still like a lot of the players on the roster but they should probably trade BI and CJ

Since you're good with numbers... What were the top three team's records last year for the lottery picks? At what pace do we need to keep to be in the top three?

You can't trade unproductive players (not for much, anyway). For Zion to come back and play well for a month leading up to the deadline gives him value.

Do people really believe this?

Other teams have 6 years of tape. Him having a good week or two isn't going to prove anything. Especially since any team picking him up is going to bank on turning him around. Nobody would pock him up as a finishing pick on a contending squad.

The thought of zion is bigger than what zion brings to the court. It's akin to what Ben simmons is to Brooklyn.

You can likely get something of value, but don't be shocked if it's just picks from contenders who think he can be that missing piece.

A team like Houston may think oh damn he might be that piece and we have too many young guys. Memphis may say who's my star next to ja? LA clippers may think can we somehow make this work?

The best thing that can happen is if Zion plays elite for 5 games

28,8,8 on great efficiency w solid defense, we go 4-1, and then someone in the front office has the balls to trade him while he is healthy and some of his mostly mythical value is restored.

This.

I know that Pels talk wants to go all out with the tank, but if Zion/BI are healthy, there's no way that you can keep them off the court. Best that we can do for the tank is to limit their minutes.

That’s all based on luck with the flattened lottery odds. Go play around in Tankathon and see how often the Pels drop out of the top 3.

I remember the year the Pels won the lottery with Anthony Davis people were freaking out about a win over the Warriors hurting the lottery odds. Now it is even harder to game the system by design. You don’t want the most numbers, you want the winning numbers, which is about luck, not losses.

I’m just saying you guys think we can exert some level of control on the situation by maximizing losses, but that’s an illusion. We have no control over winning the lottery.

Go look at the lottery odds LINK If you have the worst record the worst pick you can get is 5. If you have the tenth worst record the worst pick you can get is 14th. The odds are flattened but still you have much better chance at a top five pick if you have a bottom 5 record.

Zion needs to play in 41 games to guarantee some of his salary, I’m guessing his agent is pushing to play him

Because we have to get rid of our players. The more they play the higher their value.

The problem is that the more they play the higher the inury chance so it is per say a "risk".

But their value can't really get much lower than now without playing (other than a big injury) so it technically is worth the risk to play them.

I think its too late to "save anyones job" but they can definitely try to get some wins and hope a portion of our fan base goes into the offseason forgetting about the early half and excited for next year with new additions.

So risk getting a top 4 pick to acquire a bunch of late lottery/late 1s round picks. Dumbass logic
