Biden’s parting gift to government unions - Washington Examiner

quote:

The electorate voted overwhelmingly in support of taking the federal government in a new direction last month, but thanks to the undemocratic power of government unions, the new administration will be limited in its ability to deliver more efficient services for citizens.

In a last-second move designed to thwart the will of the voters, Social Security Administration Commissioner Martin O’Malley, an appointee of President Joe Biden, signed a deal with the American Federation of Government Employees this week guaranteeing that the entity’s 42,000 SSA employee members will not have to come into the office when President-elect Donald Trump is sworn in.

Make it clear that they in fact can stay at home. Or they can possibly have a job at the office. What are they going to do, strike? lol

I've been screaming forever that AFGE is a cancer.

They've ruined the VA.

Dang it, they got him.

Trump has been out fixed again. Too bad he didn't anticipate a move like this. Maybe he shouldn't have announced this ahead of time.

Orrrrrr, he is playing chess ......

Yeah, that which can be done can be undone. First - fire Martin O'Malley - and any other toadie that implements measures like this

The new privileges given by the Biden administration to government union members are above and beyond what is statutorily and regulatorily provided by the federal government’s civil service laws. Whatever objections the Trump administration may have with the civil service system, at least those protections were democratically created by an act of Congress, beginning specifically with the Civil Service Reform Act of 1863. And that is how a democratic government should set minimum work conditions for employees: through legislation. The Democratic Party once understood this.

They can easily mandate WFH changes like some companies. Have their camera on 100% of the time so you know they are at their desk working. They will quit in droves.

Or they are making them highlight the incompetence of their roles so show the American people how inefficient current government is

My dad retired as a regional director with the VA and he complained about the union a lot. He stuck it to them whenever he could.

We only allow 2 remote days but when you are remote you have to be able to get to the office in 2 hours if called in.

This is hopefully what DOGE will fix.

No one’s talking about taking any benefits away from any seniors or those with a disability, it is all about what can be done to ACTUALLY HELP those above more efficiently and effectively.

SSA is STILL, TO THIS DAY, something that does not deal in real time. It’s maddening.

The amount of overpayments out there, people not getting their benefits on time, people not being approved for disability benefits when they have real honest accidents or diseases that happen, shouldn’t take you a freaking year. It shouldn’t take you getting an attorney to be able to get them. You paid for them!

Government bureaucracy has hurt people more than we can say. Everyone knows this, so I don’t see what the problem is in fixing it.

And again it’s not about people working from home or not. It’s about efficiency and effectiveness. It’s about not paying for Social Security buildings and utilities when they are half empty.

I saw a story, not too long ago, where someone went into the office and went to a booth and the person they were supposed to see was on the phone working remotely. Why can’t a person with a disability or an elderly person, who has a hard time getting to the office, meet remotely? It’s just stupid.

Amazing how little regard this administration has for taxpayers.
