Might be an unpopular opinion but I can’t stand binge watching. I understand why people do it but for me personally plowing through episode by episode retains absolutely nothing from a series for me. It’s like in one ear and out the other.

I couldn’t imagine binging a series like The Sopranos or Mad Men in a month. Idk call me old fashioned but I like marinating on an episode of a series and taking in what the show is trying to say as opposed to worrying about squeezing in the next episode

If it’s a good enough series that you enjoy, why rush it? Soak it in and enjoy it.

Not me, I would rather knock out a season in a few days so I don't forget the plot/storylines. Maybe I've just been conditioned to this new method.

I love when a service releases the whole season at once. Apple still trickles episodes once a week and I find myself either quitting completely or having to rewatch the previous week's episode to remember what the hell is going on.

I see that perspective.

For me I forget too much between episodes so I much prefer to binge. I'm certainly not rushing through stuff but my brain can't retain certain details sometimes.

yes I can't do it

its like listening to a podcast on 2x speed.

I heard it but I didn't retain any of it.

It sort of ruins the effect of some tv shows. I binged the Leftovers and I feel like I don't like it nearly as much as most people on here. It's probably a show that would be better if you reflected on the episode and wondered about what the answers are. I just blew through to the end. It also kills discussion online.

depends on the show.

Dramas I dint like binge watching.
They get really heavy after a while.

Comedies yeah load em up.

I also think shows on netflix are somewhat made expecting you to watch one after another.

I binged watched Breaking Bad, watch the whole series in like 2-3 weeks. I still hate myself for doing that. I missed so many things during the show that I caught rewatching it.

Depends on how good the show is and the number of episodes. If it's a really good show with lots of episodes then yeah binge watching is fun. If it's a really good show but with only a handful of episodes then I'll only watch one a night or one a week.

When we really like a series that has finished broadcasting (mostly British detective series) we'll watch one per night. Every once in a while, if there is a huge cliffhanger, we'll watch the next one.

But to binge a bunch of episodes daily, not going to happen.

I hate having to find new series all the time, so if I find one that we enjoy I try to limit it to one episode per sitting.

It ends up being maybe 4 episodes a week of a particular show.

I don't mind watching 2-3 episodes at a time, but I think that watching several episodes a day or even a week amplifies the negative attributes of the characters or story lines. It's a large part of the reason I quit watching Suits about half way through. The plots got so redundant and listening to Harvey and Mike argue about the same dumb shite every week, or Harvey and Jessica, or Harvey and Lewis, etc.

I would much rather watch 1 per week and enjoy a season for a longer period, especially now when seasons are only 10-12 episodes anyway.

I like binge watching stuff I have already seen, but when it comes to new stuff I would rather it week by week.

Yea. I’d prefer the anticipation of a good show.

Sometimes I feel like I watch too much TV, then The Three Stooges will come on MeTV and I forget all of those negative thoughts.

Binge has it's place but one of my best TV series experiences was watching LOST week to week while reading the ongoing discussion on this board.
Once you watch a series like that as the episodes are released, binge watching the same series later enhances the continuity and allows a review of the details.

Hate weekly, you can lose a lot of feel and momentum.
My Ideal is 2-4 episodes at a time. Not sure if that’s binging or not.

I prefer to binge watch most of the time. I catch so much more nuance when I don't have to wait a week or half a year for the next episode. The good thing about our options today is you often have a choice so a non-binger like yourself always has that option. Choice is good

Biggest problem for me is the gap between seasons. When a new season finally drops I cannot remember what happened in the last season.

It’s how I blasted through a few series, going back to when Netflix sent dvd’s through the mail.
