Was at Taco Bell getting my usual boring order, the lady in front of me got a Mexican pizza, hold the cheese, triple tomatoes, extra onions, half the beans…. Never heard anything like it

I was thinking what in the frick is going on here but realized there are probably many others just like her

What simple menu item do you customize the holy hell out of?

Can be any restaurant, not just fast food

Whenever we go to the hibachi place, I get no vegetables, double fried rice, no soup, extra salad, no mustard, extra ginger sauce for dipping, extra garlic butter in my fried rice

Yep, I feel like I total fat arse when I leave that place and it is glorious

We have a ton of whataburgers here so I learned from some other people that if you ask they'll toast both sides of the bun and you can sub grilled onions for raw onions. So if I go there I definitely ask for that now. I guess that's not that crazy. I do find that it enhances the burger though.

Pretty much the only food I customize these days is no mushrooms on anything that they might be in because I'm allergic and no lettuce/mayo on any sandwich because it's always a soggy mess.

I don’t like my food swimming in sauce. At certain restaurants I will ask for light sauce. At a poboy place I frequent and ones that I don’t know how they make their sandwiches I ask for light mayo. I like mayo but I don’t need it to be the star of the dish.
Also, at most Mexican restaurants I will ask for double beans instead of rice.

I usually modify something with every order at fast food so they have to make it fresh and don’t throw one of those burgers or tacos that’s been sitting under a heat lamp in my bag.

The most I’ll do in customization is holding the tomatoes on a burger.

Sausage.
Hashbrowns. Scattered, covered, chunked, and peppered.
Butter and maple syrup.

Pretty much nothing at FF places that I can think of. Don't get to have it often anyway, but also just wasn't raised where that was normal to do, so I don't have any aversions to basic toppings or condiments.

At sit-down spots, I'll sometimes build a meal out of a la carte/side items or add something to an item that doesn't normally come with (side of queso, side of ranch, etc.).

We have a family member that does this to every restaurant she orders at and there's a 50/50 chance it gets sent back because it's not how she wants it, or she gets pissy and makes a comment to the staff. It's beyond embarrassing. Order it how it is and maybe ask for something to come off the food.

I only ever ask for no pickles/mayo/sour cream if any of my dishes come with those three things. I can't imagine having to redesign an entire menu item just for the sake of being picky.

Stand behind some of the soccer moms in any coffee shop and listen to the drivel that pours out their mouths. You'd think they were ordering for 3 people when getting a single cup of coffee.

In the same vein, I always ask for French Fries with no salt. They have to make them fresh.

Not any more. They have completely stopped salting fries these days. Now they suck.

Thanks.

Ballgame Nocho's 1/2 the usual amount of cheese and three times the usual amount of jalapenos.
