Those two split the Shreveport recruits and both were forced to recruit out of Texas more

Teams in 4A and 5A got tired of losing to selects. So they made them play to enrollment. Then 1A/2A/3A teams got tired of losing to selects. So they split the playoffs. Then we came up with a new playoff set of divisions for selects. Then we made that same division set carry over to non selects. Now, it's ok to play up again. Full circle.

The Facebook algorithm must be pumping these out.
I have seen more of these articles about LA football from 1998-2004 in the last week than ever before

West Monroe ran into a well built system that was able to take lesser talent and beat their recruited players.
They then got up in their feels and forced them down.

I’m sure WM wasn’t the only one involved but, in general, north LA publics get butthurt over private schools because there aren’t as many up there but tend to be extremely good (Evangel, Calvary Baptist, etc).
It isn’t as big a deal in South LA because public schools are so fricked that every major city in the south from Lake Charles to New Orleans tends to have a lot of private and parochial schools out of necessity.

ECA was allegedly illegally recruiting kids from other states and bringing them in to play football. They were also allegedly illegally recruiting kids from area schools and setting them up to transfer in to play football.
ECA then had the gall to beat 5A schools in the playoffs with an actual 1A enrollment so a movement began at the 5A level to figure out a way to minimize ECA. North LA 5A schools joined in with BTR and NOLA schools to force the issue.
At the same time the Anti-John Curtis crowd joined in and complained about JCC winning 4A with a 2A enrollment.
So LHSAA Commissioner Tommy Henry came up with the brilliant idea to force play in your enrollment class. Which pushed ECA and JCC down playing true 2A and 1A schools and destroying them in the process.

Lesser talent? They were getting kids from multiple states.
West Monroe recruited too, but let's not pretend Evangel wasn't bringing kids in from all over to build a football factory.

Also its pretty neat looking back how far ahead of the curve the coaching staff at evangel was when it comes to modern offenses today. They were routinely doing the Shotgun 12-15 yards deep air raid and spread in the early 90’s.

It actually began in 1970 when many other private schools in Louisiana started. The high school closed in the late 1980’s, I would say 89. The school remained open in the elementary and jr high. The high school reopened when the conflict between the Booty’s and Duron’s occurred.

It wasn’t Tommy Henry’s proposal. He was just the commissioner at the time. People see what they want to see.
