I see this every time it happens in a big cfb game: a lot of posters shake their heads and call the fans entitled and classless. Why? Why does storming the field have such a negative connotation among some football fans? Where does that come from?

Not trying to troll or flame, just legitimately curious and wanting to understand that point of view.

Also, the fines against universities seem to be justified by “public safety”. Has anyone ever been injured storming a field after a game?

In Saturdays case at Tiger Stadium the fans stormed the field because they understood they literally helped win that game. The fans impacted that game, especially in overtime. Let them have their moment, and I hope there are many more

For most people, storming the field was saved for major upsets. For me, I always thought when fans stormed the field, they were basically admitting that they didn't believe their team had any chance of winning that game. I recognize that it has changed now, and many schools will storm for any big, emotional wins. I personally don't love it, but also recognize that it's just how it is now.

It’s like the T-Birds in Grease. They are strutting around trying to look cool in the penumbra of their team, and fools rushing the field are ruining their image.

I normally don't mind storming the field, but I do dislike storming the field against a 1-loss Ole Miss in Week 6. Is LSU the only team to storm the field after beating Ole Miss in recent years? I genuinely don't know, but I would say probably

What today’s generation doesn’t seem to realize: we had just as much fun as you if not more, without storming the field.

It fricks up the turf, it puts the university at risk. people get injured, it wastes $250,000 that could be used to improve the school, it makes you look like a small school that pulled an upset instead of a elite championship contender. It should be saved for massive monumental upsets that no one saw coming, not 3 point underdogs ranked one spot below the visitor.

I don't have a problem with rushing the field when its justified, like vandy beating Bama or even LSU OT win against bama in 22' just because its been so long since we beat them at home. I don't think rushing the field against Ole Miss is justified @ any time unless they're number 1 and we are unranked. They were 5 spots ahead of us in rankings and only a 3.5 pt favorite. I DO understand emotions are high after an OT win like that but it just comes off like we don't win those types of games very often. We won 3 titles this century and Ole Miss has never won anything. This is just my opinion on it... If storming the field keeps fans engaged & in the stands, then so be it, I guess.

Because these strong young men that play a very violent game fully geared up in combat style protection to avoid serious injury might get a bruise from a drunken frat rat.

I have zero problems with fans, mostly students who initiate it, storming the field after big wins. Let them have fun for fricks sake. They’re kids. Let them make great memories and grow their fandom.

Because it has generally been reserved for big, unexpected upsets. The Vandy fans storming the field? Absolutely. Arkansas doing so after beating #4 Tenn.? Sure. No. 10 (LSU) beating (No. 8) Ole Miss, a school many LSU fans like to tout as their "little brother" and not the biggest rival? Storming the field comes across as a bit weak.

I'm not anti storming the field. It's a memorable experience for both fans and players alike. But if you start doing it with a high frequency it starts to lose its significance.

Because it's like a giant lawn, and they just want people to get off their lawn.

It was the 100 year anniversary celebration of Death Valley against a huge rival in what many were saying was likely an elimination type game. And given the circumstances of how we won in OT, storming the field was appropriate. The fans deserved the experience, and witnessing our defense finally arriving back to a respectable status more than justifies it.

Listen to Brian Kelly. Even he admits it's a very uncomfortable feeling.

If it's just those storming the field that's one thing. But there is a lot of other things going on that it gets in the way of. Interviews taking place, players coaches, media, etc just trying to get off the field.
