If BI doesn't start shooting 3s, they are going to need to have the first subs come in at the 11 minute mark.

CJ will have to be sixth man. No other way around it. I think he will embrace the role and have a great year.
Zion, Herb, Murray are MUST starts. CJ makes more sense as a 6th man vs BI imo.

That'll be our starting lineup for the year unless injury forces a change or one of the young guys push him for the starting spot.
I expect Theis getting 15-20, Matkovic getting 10-12, 5-10 for Missi, and the rest will be small ball 5. Jamison will probably be there for insurance.
I'm more worried about how they are going to find enough minutes for Herb and Trey if they have to come off the bench.

I dunno. I think that CJ and Theis need to have their minutes linked. One of the ways that Theis excels is in setting excellent screens, and CJ was top-10 in the league last season in production off screens, even with JV, who didn't set very good screens.
The best situation would be to bring BI off the bench, but we know that won't happen.

Counter argument....
1. We will have 3-4 of Murray/ Zion/ CJ/ BI/ with the starting lineup. We are looking to outscore other teams and should while opening games.
2. Murray immediately replaces Herb as the "necessary" starter and #1 defender. He has to start compared to Herb who doesn't regardless of personal feelings.
3. If we are set to outscore teams starting the game then a 2nd string defensive lineup with Jose/ Herb makes the most sense...
Having Murray and Herb in the game together to start is a waste of talent IMO. We would be forcing 1 to guard a lesser opponent instead of causing havoc against 2nd strings or maximizing their defense.
BI/ CJ were already starters. Murray's defense allows Herb to not be an absolute necessity to start games.
Many people want Herb to start and can't imagine a world where he doesn't but in reality BI/ CJ need to start especially if we are going to trade them down the line... We would be fricking ourselves already.
None of this means that Herb/ Murray shouldn't close games or that Herb has less value than CJ/ BI.
There's more to this than everyone's simplistic "Herb good"

DM/Herb/BI/Zion/Theiss is a miserably fitting starting lineup. It is the definition of why we CANT pay BI long term. Take out BI and insert CJ or Trey and look at how much better the lineup fits together.

I, for one, will feel MUCH better...when BI is shooting midrange fall-away jumpers...in a galaxy far, far away. (Like...maybe Washington or something)

Murray's defense would be better when paired with Herb. His defense was not great when he was relied upon as the only defender in a lineup (see the Atlanta Hawks).
Herb is a first team all defense guard/wing, he doesn't need the ball in his hands to be effective. He is a player that you need in your starting lineup. I don't care if he plays over BI, CJ, or whoever, he needs to be in the starting lineup. Zion, Murray, and Herb are locks for the starting lineup, IMO.
