I came across this podcast and the park looks amazing (theme wise)

But, It’s only going to have 11 rides and 5 of the rides will be kiddie rides - WTF?

So only 6 rides for adults?

When I go to a theme park, I goto ride rides, not just to look at cool theme shite.

Six Flags in Atlanta is looking to be more fun than EPIC will be.

I was expecting this theme park to have a shitload of rides considering how big it’s going to be. I can’t even imagine what the wait times will be in this theme park.

What are you, like 6?

Theme parks are for children.

Yes, I like to have fun going to theme parks. I also like attending college and pro football games, college and pro baseball games, NBA games, concerts.. I love TopGolf as well. Hell, I might even throw in some MLB the Show or Madden on the PlayStation. Deep sea fishing is also high on my list.

I live a pretty shitty life as a 6 year old.

But by the way, I am in the marketing business so when new things like this open up, it interests me because the way they are promoting (marketing) this new park sounds like it’s going to be a huge letdown for millions of people who are excited about it opening next year.

That was always my problem with EPCOT growing up. It was an amazing place to look at and walk around but there wasn't really shite to do there as far as rides go. Plus you know, Disney fricks kids.

They ended up adding Test Track, Mission Space, and Soarin to help a little with the rides from how the park was up to about 2000 or so.

No lol

Universal is great. Good hotels, fun parks and Horror Nights is great. Epic will be an amazing park

Strange podcast….he constantly switches back and forth between telling how fantastic it will be and how much it will suck!

EPCOT is for the parents. Magic Kingdom is for the kids.

Bigger picture here - Universal is basically taking the next step while Disney sat there with their thumbs up their butt. While Disney took literally forever building Tron, Guardians of the Galaxy, the fruity Moana water bullshite in Epcot, etc… Universal decided to launch a whole new massive park.

I think basically Universal saw an opportunity. Disney got comfortable just opening tidbits here and there… and for whatever reason, taking a ridiculously long amount of time opening single attractions. This is their shot at the king.

Overall I think this a great thing for people who enjoy going to Orlando. Disney has taken notice and realized they're not the only swinging dick in town. This ensures two big dogs taking swipes at each other trying to regain market share… which means more things to do for the consumer.

Islands of Adventure was the same way when it opened but they've slowly added to it over the years. Universal said they'll have room to expand Epic Universe. We went the first summer Islands of Adventure was open and there were 5 "islands" with one main ride on each of them. One of them being a cat in the hat kids ride. Cat in the hat, Dueling Dragons, Jurassic Park, Dudley do right, Spider Man, Incredible Hulk. Other little things to look at but it was pretty thin on thrill rides.

Disney just announced many new attractions this year in response to universal closing in on their new park and exciting new projects. Problem is knowing Disney it will take them another decade to actually go through with their projects while universal is building it in a much quicker time frame. Plus Disney have gotten very cheap in recent years scrapping plans they announced and watering it down for something not originally proposed to the public

Skimmed through this a bit. But yes, it’s 11 rides but more like 2-3 kids rides. Rides can be labeled as kids rides once they meet a certain low end height requirement/threshold.

Outside of that though, there will be 2 live shows. If you’ve never tried those at theme parks, you should. The Bourne show is incredible. My kids cover their ears throughout the gun fights and ask to always go back. They are going to have all the wand magic like they do in the other parks. Not for me but it’s a major draw. And they wil have the Mario power up shite like they do in Japan and Hollywood.

If the only thing you want is rides, do SeaWorld. They are slowly on track to becoming the rollercoaster capital of the US. And they are good coasters.

Epic will be more about the immersive experience. Universal studios has diagon alley. I’m not even a Harry Potter nerd and that place is fun to walk in. Disney has Pandora and Galaxys Edge which also are equally amazing. But all of those parks are one immersive land with the rest being themed but nothing crazy. Epic is only immersive lands. To put it in perspective , it’d be like having 1 park housing Mario World (Japans), Diagon Alley, Galaxys Edge, Pandora, and then with a center hub of a major coaster. Not necessarily overland having dark rides but how heavily themed those lands are.

There are flying dragon drones that will cruise about the How To Train Your Dragon land. There are videos. It’s pretty awesome.

It’s not just about the rides.

If you want an adult ride park in FL go to Busch Gardens or if FL is not a lock go someplace like Cedar Point in OH.

They overpaid for the TCF library and had a huge payment coming due. Their income had slowed to a trickle due to their insistence on doing groomer movies, and raising prices to try and make up for lost revenues. Picking a fight with the governor exposed even more of the degen mentality and many customers bailed from supporting anything Disney.

They had planned a Lake Nona HQ, billion-dollar expansion to get out of the oppressive, tax heavy, CA regime. They realized they could not afford it and had to shelf it. Now they have big plans but still don't have the income for them. They have said they will stop their political shite, and recently said the grooming will stop. They have yet to tell men to stop wearing dresses to work.

Universal has gone down hill. Still better than Disney but it used to be a lot better, esp IOA.

Getting rid of dueling dragons was the gayest move. Best ride in that whole park.

A lot of the good Disney Imagineers left and went to Universal and it shows. The technology they are bringing to this new park is very impressive. If Universal can reproduce some of the better dining options that Disney has then they have a chance to pass them up in overall experience.

Epic on opening day will have about as many functional rides as Animals Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios.
