The French Quarter is lost

The violence this year in the FQ has been shocking to see. I have zero desire to step foot in that part of town.
Maybe Latoya thinks she'll pick up some helpful tips to combat violent on all of these speaking junkets about climate change?
Just in last few days:
Man stabbed
Double shooting on Bourbon at 7pm

They keep saying crime is down.
It isn't.
People just don't call anymore...

Uh, no.
Katrina washed a lot of the bullshite 70 miles to the west, further greasing Baton Rouge's skid to shithole status. We don't need another dose of that.

I thought Landry was beefing up state law enforcement presence down there. Is that not happening.
I have been to the FQ several times over the last few years where I didn’t see a single uniformed NOPD officer. Anecdotal I know, but take it fwiw.

when it comes to this issue inparticular, yes, she and her friends are keenly short of common sense

I've heard they're really cracking down on the street racing scene.

I believe these events are referred to as Father's Day protest.

I was there last night. I took my family to Galatoire's and someone was killed one street over while we were in the restaurant.
By the time we could get back to the hotel and turn on the news there was a double shooting on Bourbon that we missed by less than 15 mins.
The next story on the news was that some idiot had a RR spike and was running around bashing people in the head with it.
Meanwhile, back at the hotel, we were greeted by two panhandlers working in tandem. One was asking for money while the other was stealing bags out of the back of someone's truck as they were trying to check in.
There's zero security and no manned valet stand. There's another bum in the Cafe asking people to buy him coffee.
I ask the desk clerk what can be done....she says nothing. They lock the door at 10 pm, but other than that, anyone can come and go off the street.
When I asked about security she said: We have a repairman on call if you have any issues.
Leaving now. Will not return to this city.

Not sure how much of a dent his task force is doing, but there was an article last week where they reported several arrests.

My anecdotal: have been told that they only use the uniform presence for big events, and they have an undercover crew that basically bar hops and calls in trouble. They don't get involved unless it's a last resort because they "drink to blend in"

Lemme guess. Those "get togethers" are every two weeks, correct?

They are hiding it. I read there has been a string of home break-ins in the Bywater last week or so. Included in the list were restaurants such as Blue Oak and Carrollton Station, so apparently not limited. It was on Reddit NOLA.

Meanwhile last night Superior Grill had a State Trooper sitting by the front door (host stand).
The clientele looked like they were all from Iowa.

On NOLA.com today the below linked article "CRIME IS DOWN!!!" is posted directly next to "Double Shooting on Bourbon Street" and the website apparently doesn't notice the irony. This is the "gaslighting" the Progressives swear the MAGA people are doing. But it's actually them. The article is all about LaToya's feel good task force that meets for catered lunches and they swear they have pulled their own numbers and they are doing great. Never mind what you see and hear on the street. Trust the science.
Serioulsly, read the article at the link and see if you can't see the bias. They even take a shot at Landry and promise that the decline in crime was "before he took office and started his efforts". So, its better but not because of anything anyone with an R behind his name has done. Lastly, they heap praise on the DA who everyone knows isn't doing shite.
The people charged with reducing crime PINKY SWEAR it's down
