re: Is this justified self defense?
Posted by Raptor2ndAmendment on 7/7/24 at 3:48 pm to Falco
He had the gun out at the begining of that when he was already in a scuffle. If you are defending someone with a gun you dont engage in wrestling, you point and shoot. Those facts lead me to believe that he pulled the gun mid scuffle and, seeing as he wasn't the only person being attacked, was involved in some level of initial aggression.
Therefore, lacking any more evidence for now, my ruling is not self defense.

Kids are the best part of life
I wholeheartedly agree, but are you suggesting you or any parent can be happy all the time with them?

In my day, if we wanted to hook up with a female teacher, we had to accept the fact that they looked like someone from the A-team with a perm.
The average age of teachers today has to be half of what it was when I was in high school.
I don't know what force made that happen but I am hella jealous.

This problem could easily be solved by allowing the accused to have the option of disclosing his/her arrest to the public or not.
What's the point of this when trials are public?
Also, who would ever say yes, please make my arrest public if the option is there to hide it?

Making the state less transparent is not the answer.
And businesses and people have the right to distance themselves from even the perception of wrongdoing.
Does it result in unfairness sometimes? Absolutely.
But the only way to stop it is to reduce freedoms in some way or another.
But you can reduce your risk by clean living and avoiding sketchy people/places/behaviors. It's no guarantee but it is effective.
I'm not on board with tampering with the system because of the rare unfairness. No system will ever be perfect and we can easily get a lot worse.

By virtue of the fact that the dryer sizes stay the same and thus you are able to dry fewer clothes per unit of time.

The secondary headline, had you bothered to click on the article, clearly says child endangerment.
Which is absurd. The chief didn't put the kids in danger. He merely failed to act when they were in danger, which SCOTUS has already ruled is fine. This should never go to trial.
He absolutely should have lost his job but the slippery slope that is locking people up who fail to put their lives on the line for strangers scares me. Today it's a random Texas police chief for innocent kids. But tomorrow its your son or daughter cop for a drugged out thug. We can't go down this road.
