Neither is very good and Wiseman is just awful.

Duren is like the most overrated player on his forum. Dude can't shoot and is a bad defender. What's the appeal? He doesn't even block shots.

Two mediocre to bad bigs kn the worst team in basketball and this forum loves them.

You thought you hated Nance? Wait til you see those two up close

Where do you see any obsession about Wiseman on this site? I don’t think I’ve read a single glowing endorsement regarding him. The best I’ve read is along the lines of “he’s young and athletic and worth a league minimum contract to see if he could possibly contribute.” That’s far from an obsession.

I think most people on here would rather Kessler/ Mark Williams/ Stewart/ and picks.

The argument for Wiseman is "would we rather him be our #3 or a vet min".

No one even wants him to be our #2 guy.

Never heard them mentioned on this site, ever. I guess it has happened but let’s not call it an obsession.

Jarrett Allen, Walker Kessler, the Lopez brother that can shoot, years of Myles Turner are all the bigs I recall.

Just say you never watched em clearly because Duren is a straight beast . Can score and clean the glass
The betting man knows you can take Duren double double every night and make money

What the hell are you talking about? People are talking about Wiseman as a potential 3rd big because he was released.

As for Duren, huh? This thread is the most anyone on this board has talked about him.

Scoring and rebounding is great, but you’re missing the point. Duren is known to be a bad defender

Duren is still very young and shows flashes. Elite rebounding already and ability to switch defensively. Shot almost 80% from the free throw line. Does foul a lot. Depending on what’s out there I’d consider it if Detroit also throws in a few unprotected picks

He doesn’t turn 21 until like December I would bet a lot of money that he figures it out on defense. He’s not exactly in the best development situation either

Wiseman is a fine buy low 2nd draft guy. He costs nothing but a roster spot. I am Willing to sacrifice the 15th spot to see if a hyper athletic 7 footer with a 7’6” wingspan and decent shooting mechanics can grown up/get serious.

I have no interest in Duren.

I'm not saying he isn't switchable, but isn't the knock on Duren that he's a bad defender, which isn't good considering he's a defensive big.

But do you want him being a rotational big on your team trying to figure that out while we try to get a top seed in the west?

Hes not coming here to sit as a third big. We already have JRE/Missi who essentially are our third bigs this season. Wiseman will sign here because he wants rotational minutes. His best bet to get better is to actually get minutes- frankly he can get those minutes on another team.

Everyone calling him a bad defender is overblowing it. He graded out last year as slightly below average defensively based on most advanced metrics. DBPM had him at 0.1 where 0.0 is basically a neutral defender. DEPM had him at -0.8

He was a 19 year old center last year on the worst team in basketball and was only slightly below average on defense. Put him on a much better team in the pels with a coach that put together 2 straight top 6 defenses with JV as the starting center and I think you see immediate improvement.

If there’s one thing Willie is good at it’s coaching defense. So give him a highly athletic, rebounding monster and let Willie do what he’s good at

I’d rather have Drummond. You know what you are getting and it’s predictable. He can play 15 minutes collect rebounds and take up some space. And he’s cheap and relatively durable

1. Because we desperately need help at center, and an elite center is falling in our lap. So we are picking through a basket of defective options.

2. Because bigs take time to develop. Tyson chandler, Triston Thompson, several others were poor early and key pieces later in championship teams.

3. Because Duren just averaged a double double as a 20 year old, shoots well enough from the free throw line to be able to close out games, and is a genuine athletic freak.

4. No one sees wiseman as solving any problems, and conflating these two as similar is absurd.

Hes 23. He was on a much better team with the warriors and was horrendous. Willie did nothing for Jaxson Hayes. I really think you’re overthinking this- hes a bust.

Pretty sure he was talking about Duren.

Not sure why the OP brought up Duren. There is no indication that he's available.
