Going up for a Golf Trip with college buddies the first week of November. Any recommendations on restaurants/bars/ or things to do outside of golfing? Also, curious how the weather/temperature is typically around that time?

If you like barbecue check out Rodney Scott BBQ for while Hog (get the whole hog sandwich to get cracklings). Also the Bessingers (Melvin's in Mt Pleasant, Bessinger's out towards Johns Island) are said to have invented the SC mustard sauce.

Shrimp and Grits either at Fleet Street Landing in town or Acme Seafood Kitchen on Isle of Palms.

Best seafood, my vote is The Wreck of the Richard and Charlene in Old Town Mt Pleasant.

If your group likes history take a boat out to Ft Sumter. Also go tour the Yorktown aircraft carrier just across the Ravenel Bridge.

We went to eat at Costa last Friday. Apparently it is a new restaurant. The food was great.

Also, go to Porchetta's.

Weather’s usually great in October and November. Good chance it will be short sleeves weather. Charleston and Asheville are two of the most asked about on this board. Use the search function and you’ll additional suggestions that may get missed on this thread.

Fleet Landing is good, on the water and casual. Best experience we had. Highly recommend a reservation.

Coast Bar and Grill. Cool setting in an alley. Above average food but not top end.

Hyman’s Seafood. Food was good, but it’s older and touristy. They turn over tables quick and there’s usually a wait. Service was good. Not much on atmosphere.

Carmella’s for dessert. Some of the best desserts anywhere. Key Lime pie and Key Lime gelato are great.

If you like distillery’s and tours firefly was awesome when me and my wife went a few years ago. Angel oak is outside of Charleston but it is really impressive to see such a large tree and it’s beautiful

I really enjoyed Edmunds Oast. Amazing food; solid beers. Good people.

Halls Chophouse

Best steak in Charleston and it's right there on King St.

I used Turo to pick up and drop off the truck at CHS. It was a breeze and cheaper than Avis or Enterprise.

June will be miserably hot. I went last year at the beginning of July and it was tough.

Things to do:
The Battery
Charles Town Landing
The Citadel
College of Charleston
Shem Creek
Folly Beach/Island of Palms/Sullivan's Island
The Hunley Sub
Middleton Plantation
Boone Hall
Aquarium
The Alley
USS Yorktown
King Street
Ghost Tour
Carriage Tour
Evening Boat cruise (surprisingly, the boat cruise we went on had the best She-Crab soup while I was in CHS.

Places to eat:
Nico's (highly recommend)
Rodney Scott BBQ
Okra Grill
Oak Steakhouse
Halls Chophouse (highly recommend)
The Boathouse
Millers All Day
Fig
Poogan's Porch (highly recommend for brunch)

Lots of threads on dining options

I like raw 167 for lunch or dinner seafood.
They opened a bar near by that’s supposed to be great.
I love Halls for steak and great service
Snob is good
Harry’s is under rated steaks and seafood

There’s lot of good restaurants and quite a few bars

I'm not going to restate all my suggestions since I've posted them in other Charleston threads, but happy to answer any specific questions.

Though I do just need to correct a few posts in this thread...Lewis BBQ is the correct answer for best BBQ in town. It's hands down better than Rodney Scott for food and vibe. I guess if you're really into whole hog also check out Rodney Scott's, but you've gotta hit Lewis.

Is is worth the extra coin to stay in the French Quarter area at a boutique hotel or B&B? Just staying for a night in September while passing through with my wife. Figured couldn't hurt for one night and be within walking distance of a lot of nice places/sights.
