Yes, I posted this on the travel board, but the OT gets more traction. Also, I of course trust everyone here immensely, LOL.
Wife and I (mid 30's and no pics) are going to Columbia in September for the LSU game. We are going to fly into Charleston on Wednesday and spend a couple days there. Any recs on places to stay, things to do, restaurants? Wife will also be six months pregnant so a central location to activities that you don't have to walk to terribly far would be good.

Go to all the hangouts and hope to run into some of the Southern Charm cast.

Wife and I stayed at the Jasmin house on Hassell street. Opt for a big room on the back courtyard. A great restaurant within walking distance was FIG. Get a reservation though.

There are 1000 posts on Charleston alone in the Travel/Food board. Go to the comments on anyone of those.

What I was going to say as well.
Also, the question is too broad to give any meaningful response. There are a shite ton of restaurants, hotels, and activities so a little more guidance is needed.

Grab one of the hotels around marion Square and you will be good for most downtown activities. Market Street and East Bay would still be a little too much walk for a preggo gal (about 8 -10 long city blocks one way). You can grab a carriage or uber to get there easy. I recommend Magnolias on East bay as a don't miss dining. If you go for seafood, a lot of them don't stack up to Louisiana's offerings, but Downtown Pearlz Oyster Bar is real good, at Shem Creek avoid them all for dinner excepth Shem Creek Crab House the rest are fine for a lunch though. For a real treat catch a ride out to Bowens Island Restaurant on James Island. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconcheers.gif)

The carriages aren't for rent, unless you meant a pedicab.
The seafood here is absolutely on par with just about anywhere, NOLA included. If you don't think so then you're going to the wrong places or ordering the wrong things.

Several good restaurant recs on travel board. Fwiw, 167 Raw is one of the best seafood places I ever been and that saying a lot. The pastrami swordfish sandwich is something that is hard to forget both in originality and flavor. It’s worth going out of the way.
Hotels- several good ones. I like planters inn.

A lot have posted but I will add to make SURE you make dinner reservations far enough out. The nice restaurants book up early and quickly for the weekend.
King street for shopping and roaming around the lower peninsula for the history and houses is fun. Also, a few rooftop bars near market.

I lived in Charleston for 12 years until 2018, I have been to them all. I am originally from New Orleans/Metairie, consider myself a seafood connoisseur and I stand by my statement 100%. Charleston restaurant seafood is sub-par for the most part. Now the fresh seafood available there is excellent quality, the prepared dishes...more of it is meh than great.

We have a travel board for a reason, dumbass

Post-labor day is the best time to go to Charleston. It's the start of the off season, don't listen to the guy talking shite about Shem Creek. All the restaurants are good. Your wife won't be drinking which is a shame, it's a great mature bar scene with just enough hoop and holler without the trashiness of most bar districts. Are you renting a car?

If they're looking for more upscale food, I would suggest only drinking at Red's, Muddy's, and Saltwater Cowboys and getting dinner at Tavern and Table or Sunsets.
