Hope you have your trip a ways away. Literally leaving there today. Tried booking restaurants over a month out and most of the cop ones were full.

#1 dive that sells mostly fried seafood, but has a great waterfront view is Bowens Island out towards Folly Beach.

#2 dive that sells mostly fried seafood, but has a great waterfront view is The Wreck on Shem Creek.

BBQ, Lewis BBQ is probably the best, Rodney Scott’s is a close second.

Soul food, Bertha’s, Hannibal’s Kitchen, or Dave’s Carry Out. None of these three are visually appealing, but the food is killer.

Early Bird Diner and Glass Onion in West Ashley are solid. EB is more of a breakfast/brunch place, GO more of a simple dinner.

More expensive, and tougher to get into, Husk, FIG, Hall’s Chophouse.

Lots of really good places, depending on what you want.

We just got back, but had kids so couldn’t do anything over the top.

Home Team was decent Q.

Gingerline was a good lunch spot with outdoor seating next to the market.

Across river we had good seafood @ Harbor House. Fried shrimp were legit.

Poe’s had a good burger and outdoor seating at Sullivan’s Island.

Sorry, nothing fancy on my end.

Some good recommendations here

for places like FIG or SNOB you will need some time to get a reasonable hour for dining

In addition to others mentioned
A few that I can recommend -
Peninsula - high end. A bit staid interior.
Halls- great steak. No nonsense. Great service.

Fig ans snob are great. Hard to get in. A bit fussy on the menu.

One that is worth a try but hard to get in is 167 raw. Really good seafood from sushi to oysters to cooked virietys. The drinks are great too. No reservations tho. Get on the list, walk around and they’ll call you.

Another relatively inconspicuous is Hanks. Really good steak and seafood done no nonsense style.

One thing to know-
Hotel restaurants are good in Charleston.

Boxcar Betty's and Leon's both have amazing chicken sandwiches

Down street walk from Leon's is Little Jack's Tavern, which has an amazing burger
Leons and Little Jacks are surprisingly expensive but worth it

Nobody has mentioned Edmond's Oast yet, better yet the EOBC further up the peninsula with amazing beers, pizza, wings, and burger. Plus Lewis BBQ just opened up a Mexican place there

Don't waste a reservation on Husk it's good but there are better

Husk, 167 Sushi and Lewis BBQ.

Butcher and Bee was a great brunch that was lighter than our previous meals.

The starters at FIG were better than the entrees and I thought it was overpriced.

Also had good east coast oysters at Quinte and great cocktails at Doar Bros.
