What are your thoughts on their opinion?

I think I completely agree. They can not run the same roster back. Change is needed.

Big facts I'm so scared we'll waste another year of:

- Zion, not having optimal team around him
- Trey, coming on the bench because of Ingram

Lazy arse…

quote:

The New Orleans Pelicans are essentially the Upside Down of the NBA world, a roster loaded with wings and no real answer at point guard or center.

Basically, they'll make the ideal trade partner for some team this summer.

The Pelicans simply cannot run this same roster back. The Big Three of Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum registered a lowly net rating of minus-3.0 in 1,533 total possessions together (38th percentile, via Cleaning the Glass).

Jonas Valanciunas is a free agent who doesn't look like a good fit next to Williamson. The Pelicans should use Ingram as trade bait to try to find a three-point shooting center or pass-first point guard and put Trey Murphy III in the starting lineup instead.

New Orleans desperately needs a roster shake-up. Bringing back the same core should be Pelicans fans' biggest fear.

It's time.

It's why I don't like the discussion around extending BI if it's less than a max and a more team friendly deal. No, just no.

There's no realistic deal BI would take that would make me want to bring him back. It is just time to move on.

More worried about Zion getting depressed, binge eating all off season and showing up at training camp 50lbs overweight.

If the Pels run this team back as currently constructed next season then both Griff and Willie either need to be on the hot seat or fired.

If the big 3 run it back, they HAVE to add a pg and defensive center to the mix.

I'm not confident would be able to without paying too much for a guy like Allen or okongwu/capela

I hate to say it because Ian a huge Jonas fan but things need a shakeup. I like BI too but he clearly wants out and I think CJ does as well. It is well known CJ doesn’t think Willie is a good head coach.

Well known? Do you have a quote? Source?

I've never heard anything of the sort and I'm on this board every day.

Im not sure if I’ll be more pissed if we get a sad return for Ingram or if he comes back for 1 year (and we make it to 2nd round max).

We gotta do something. I’m cool with Jarrett Allen honestly. That would probably allow us to keep Dyson Daniels and Jordan Hawkins which im hopeful for.

Just get the best deal you can for BI, whatever that is...and move the guy. It's only gonna get worse...if we keep him.

You would need to trade him early. Look at Toronto with Siakam. They held on too long.

I'm scared that Zion won't reach his full potential and we'll be back to square one after we trade him away for 75 cents on the dollar in the final year of his contract.

The vicious cycle of the Pels.

Zion not coming into the season in shape is my biggest fear.

I mean I appreciate BI for his contributions and being a borderline all star wing with the Pels. However, I agree it’s time. It’s almost like when we traded David West or Jrue. I have love for the guy but we are going in a different direction. We have to get Trey in the starting lineup along with a real PG and athletic shot blocking C.

For sure, but the problem is really availability isn't it? Pels pressed to pay a max to anyone who misses that many games ... like a Jimmy Butler discussion. BI set a selfless basketball culture and that's what would be missed. Whole team, including CJ most the time ... heehe, is real good at getting the ball to the open man. But particularly how this postseason has gone, you see if Ingram and Zion both healthy they could have made some noise, even with a flawed roster construction. Or you think, this is as far as Zion\BI will go.

Griff has to make win-win deals which I don't know if he's good at. You go get the guard you want or should have had. Use the picks to get better in the post.
