re: Windhorst says Philly is monitoring the Brandon Ingram situation

Is that why the Wizards had to give up 6 2nd round picks and 4 pick swaps to send Bradley Beal and his 4/$200M contract to Phoenix?
NO. It was the Wizards that recieved 6 2nd round picks and 4 1st round pick swaps for a guy with $200M left on his contract that had missed 32, 42, 22, and 15 games a year the last 4 years that shot 34.5% from 3 during that time as one of the most inefficient chuckers in the league.
Most smart NBA people at the time thought it was a very stupid trade for Phoenix.
I thought it was terrible and my post history will show that.
But you are correct, it only takes one team to think that a distressed asset of a negative player (Beal, Westbrook, etc.) could be the missing piece.
However, my personal opinion is that no one holds Ingram in that high of regard. Beal is a non-winning player who still put up much better stats than BI.

In general, us fans have absolutely no clue what execs think the value of a player is. It happens all the time, where a team overpays or underpays for a player. It isn’t all random. Someone is setting the market for them.

The cap will continue to rise significantly over the next 2 years, almost 10% jumps into 2026 and 2027 each. BI's contract will not be that terrible. He's still a really good player, and he's still young. We saw a huge jump in his defense and rebounding effort this year. No one was bitching about him before he got hurt with 12 games left b/c he was playing well and the team was playing like a top 5 team in the league.
I'd prefer if we traded both BI and CJ, but I dont think that's realistic with our idiot GM. If we can't find a good deal for BI, then you have to resign him, and if that happens, then CJ needs to be on the move for a legit PG. I"m sorry but CJ's defense is just too bad. It's not only bad one on one, but he seems just as bad off the ball and understanding schematically what we are trying to do.
You get BI off the ball, Zion as well, and have a real PG that sets them both up and I think we'd be better off.
BI had great points per possession stats coming off screens as well as dribble handoffs this year, both significantly higher than Zion and CJ. He was also more effecient in the post than Zion was in regards to points per possession.
BI was in the 57th percentile in the league in efficiency for ISO possessions, and CJ was even worst in just the 40th percentile (higer the better). ZIon was 75th percentile for ISO.
BI was a much more effecient player of the ball than on the ball, which is proven by his stats coming off screens, dribble handoffs, and post ups all being a good bit higher than his ISO and PNR as the ball handler stats.
2 dribbles or less and BI shoots 60% on 2's and 36% on 3's.
3+ dribbles and he drops to under 50% on 2's, and that's over half of his
total attempts per game this past year.
It might not be a terrible thing to move CJ and get a real PG, if that's possible to find.

Would you be ok with bringing BI back on a team friendly deal?
I do not know what that number is.

He is not ever going to fit with Zion and the way Willie wants to play. If you keep him it’s in hopes of finding a better trade later and 90% of the time when a team does that they end up trading for the same or less than they could get now, not better. It’s a losing strategy.

He and Zion won't play well together bc BI is in his own world thinking he's the best player on the floor most nights. Last post-game interview video below.
I feel for him bc he became the face of the franchise before Zion, and nobody wants to get surpassed as the top guy after thinking you found your home/throne. Unless he embraces the Robin role, prob best for him and the pels to go their own ways.

Seriously though, I really like Paul Reed. But he's the only guy on that roster that I think makes any sense.

They would need to add another team. Other than Maxey there isn’t anyone on that team that would fulfill that deal. Hield can be included as a piece but and they won’t part with Maxey.
I've always said bi will have to be a three team trade.

He can’t play on a team effectively if he’s not the number 1 option, see the FIBA team this offseason. Sadly for him, he’s not good enough to be a number 1 option on a good team.

You get BI off the ball,
The one thing that was conclusively demonstrated this season was that Borrego's plan to run the offense through BI was a terrible idea. We now know, and BI also knows, that this doesn't work.
But if we want BI to shoot catch-and-shoot 3rd and drive to the rim on closeouts ... doesn't Trey do those things as well as BI?

I don't think the Pels would be interested in Trae at all. I think if we did a deal with the Hawks, it would center around Murray and maybe Okongwu
Murray and okongwu is a very, very strong trade for bi imo.
I'd take that and be happy

If we trade CJ we basically have no shooting at all.

I definitely would like to acquire some talent for BI and not a bunch of picks and salary dumps from the 76ers. I’d take that Murray and okongwu deal in a heartbeat.

We have no idea. BI has never been put in a position to consistently attempt either. There were stretches before he injured his knee where he and Zion were figuring out give and take. He was doing those things very, very effectively when he was able to get into a rhythm off-ball.
People are really under-estimating how many hurdles he had to find a rhythm this year. Basically, they need to bring in a solid pg to run the offense when Zion leaves the floor. Let BI settle into a more defined role and it can be successful.

Are you saying Trey and Hawk can’t shoot? I get that there is a drop off, but it’s not a huge enough drop enough to not make a move when you consider D and pay. CJ is a great team guy, but he is definitely replaceable as a player.

We went through camp, preseason and opened the season with a different offense. BI didn't like it, so Willie changed the offense to go through BI. That was not a Borrego thing.

And Beal is now viewed as the worst contract in the NBA. No one will touch that and he’s stuck on the Suns. They can’t improve or change unless they trade Durant or Booker.
This is exactly what I don’t want to happen to us with Bi.

If off ball CJ and PG BI take 12 3s a game, I don’t think it’s that hard to get PG Murray and off ball BI to take 12. CJ attempted 8.4 a game and Dejountr attempted 7.1.
If they’d find a 5 that can shoot then all of you can cream over the fact that we’d be a top 10 3 point attempts team next year since jacking up as many threes as possible is so important to some of you.
