re: Saints raising season ticket prices
Posted by kneenola on 2/18/25 at 11:10 pm to Pelisaints
Considering it's one regular season game fewer than last season, the price increase is even worse than it sounds
Seems pretty clear we plan to trade him and need to protect him from injury. He becomes trade eligible Dec 15th.
Theis will be a healthy scratch until traded to bring us below the luxury tax. He becomes trade eligible Dec. 15th.

It's a good way to buy tix. Glad to help!

You can try this link. It's from a pels rep that posts on the reddit group. I think the prices are slightly discounted compared to seatgeek, and no resale fees since it's direct from the team.

Over the course of the season, they have pretty good giveaways for some games if you purchase thru the link, though not for the Chicago opener. Good luck

re: Pelicans announce launch of Pelicans+ streaming service

After I canceled my cable, I used the existing coaxial wiring on my house to attach an antenna outside at ground level. Just found where the coaxial line from my TV joined into an exterior line on my house, disconnected the joint, and screwed in the antenna there instead. You'll just need an adapter like this LINK. Basically using the existing coaxial wiring as an extension cord to locate the antenna outside.
I've since done it at houses of two others who had inconsistent indoor reception, and it worked. I live in New Orleans itself though, so it might not help where the tower just doesn't have a strong signal. Also not sure whether if you still have cable, you can use a splitter and get signals from both the cable and the OTA antenna. Might be worth a try.
I use flat antennas similar to this LINK. They're cheap and easy to install. I have streaming, but antennas still have been useful. Smart to have at least as a backup when internet/cable has problems

What would a good coach do with BI?
Get him to buy into the offensive system you want to run. Willie failed at that. Bad on both him and BI there.
re: Windhorst says Philly is monitoring the Brandon Ingram situation

He and Zion won't play well together bc BI is in his own world thinking he's the best player on the floor most nights. Last post-game interview video below.
I feel for him bc he became the face of the franchise before Zion, and nobody wants to get surpassed as the top guy after thinking you found your home/throne. Unless he embraces the Robin role, prob best for him and the pels to go their own ways.

Some people def have it more than others, but bring in whomever you want and they'll be held back some if subjugated to a leader who's soft.
We just need a more talented head coach all around

How were we going to win with Zion out and Ingram (and McCollum) playing like dog poo?
Green is not a good coach. But nobody is scheming victories when their stars don't show up. We never had a chance.
Yeah Willie isn't good at X&Os, but my main knock is he doesn't instill the mentality needed to win in the clutch or beat the best. It's been that all year with or without Zion.
We choke under pressure, not surprising that players play like poo under the playoff pressure. The choking comes from softness, and our head coach is one of the sources of the softness, maybe the biggest one. He for sure doesn't bring a mentality that would counter it

Willie is a good man but yes has hit his ceiling as head coach. I think he did accomplish the main thing they hired him for at the time post SVG, mentor and culture for a team with some young and/or immature players, mainly Zion and BI.
Three years later, we got to a better place, but Willie has shown he can't match the next level as a head coach. We need to move on now

They need to play that clip on a loop in the locker room and over the speakers during practice constantly until tip off of game four.
They really should, but Willie is wired to just clap for them and double down on words of encouragement
Losing the San Antonio game while sitting Zion for a minor finger injury was so stupid. Cost us so much more with this extra game

re: How can we keep Jonas and Naji next year?

There's better cap people on this board, but looks to me like we can bring everyone back and stay under the tax for one more year, 2024-25, if we don't overpay.
Those contracts would then put us in the tax for 2025-26 though, so we'd have one more season to decide whether to keep it together or trade players to prevent going into the tax. Our trade leverage prob wouldn't be ideal at that point though.
The reality is fans should think of this year as part of our championship window, rather than still a build-up

Those hotel tax dollars need to be spent on the security of the people in the city.
The schools are the worse, the crime is horrible ,the police understaffed
I live in nola and totally agree. The hotel tax that goes to the state was meant decades ago to stand up the convention center. Job done, stop hoarding it. Now, it's going to luxuries like a new district for a convention center hotel and top golf--I'm all for development but those are luxuries compared to dire needs of the city. Instead of a cause in search of funds, it's now funds in search of a cause, which is bad for taxpayers.
But the state government won't stop hoarding it. The people against spending state dollars for a new stadium need to understand much of that money would be financed by nola hotel taxes.
Or better than a stadium, stop hoarding the tax money for BS and work something out to improve schools, infrastructure, and safety. The city def has a lot of problems, but the hate here goes overboard esp when the state is hoarding a huge pot of city-generated money.
From a pre-covid BGR report:
Hotel taxes will yield an estimated $200 million in 2019, accounting for about one-sixth of all local tax revenues in Orleans Parish. Of this amount, 75.5%, or $150.9 million, goes to entities that support tourism marketing, conventions and professional sports. The share for general municipal purposes is 9.5%, or $18.9 million.
...
The New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center has accumulated $235 million in unrestricted reserves largely because it continues to receive a 1% hotel tax, two hotel tax dedications, and a citywide food and beverage tax ($22 million in total for 2019) that were originally intended for an expansion project it deferred indefinitely after Hurricane Katrina. The center’s new five-year $557 million capital plan could decrease the unrestricted reserves to $122 million upon completion of the plan in 2022. However, the reserves could begin growing again by $25 million a year in 2023, according to a financing scenario the center’s financial consultant prepared." LINK

Herb has been a better basketball player than Trey every step of the way.
I like Trey, but this board in general talks him up too much.

yes that has been reported and no it is not planned for anytime soon. Sometime in the mid 2030s is what they are thinking.
Great, where has it been reported?
I'd be happy if he just worked on his free throws.
Seems like adding just a bit of arc is all he needs, because he has a good stroke. His made FTs generally hit the back rim, they don't really ever swish
