My wife used to do this.

She didn’t always send it back, but she would order the most expensive, slowest, most complicated dish to prepare on the menu, with special instructions on the side. Then when it finally came out, she would say Oh I can’t eat this. I let her know early in our marriage that we were done eating out unless she could figure out a way to curb that.

She does a lot better for a long time now but sometimes she will tend toward that again and I have to remind her.

She really is a wonderful woman otherwise!

We had a friend who we refused to go out to eat with. Whatever was on the menu, she would ask to make several changes to it. 9 times out of 10 it got sent back because it wasn't EXACTLY how she wanted it. Like holy shite, just eat what's in front of you. It's the restaurant's menu, not YOUR kitchen.

I've only experienced this a handful of times in my life, I would make it a point to not dine out with a person if they've done this more than once in my presence.

I have an older sister that does the same thing.. We went to a place and she wanted a broiled piece of fish and asked the waitress to not put seasoning on it.. She gets the fish and it was exactly like she asked for.. She starts with there nothing on it it's just plain... I barked at her "that's what you ordered!" She sent it back and they sprinkled some seasoning on it and she was fine with it...

I haven't had to send anything back in at least 20 years. Probably because I choose wisely with where I eat, but also due to me not dining with nimrods.

My old arse mother in law has had to send a few soups back for not being hot enough, but we don't dine out together all that much.

If I'm with someone and they do it for the first time around me, I'll give them a pass.

If I see they make a habit of it, then they can go out to eat by themselves, or at least without me as part of the table.

My ex sister in law sent back a Caesar salad three different times at an IHOP one time. It was 2 in the morning and the damn waitress had to have been in her 70's. She got about $500 tip out of the group we all felt awful. Sister in law was a spoiled rotten gold spoon dip shite.

Only time I've ever returned food was a medium rare ny strip steak that still had unrendered fat on the outside. Sorry, that's unacceptable.

I hate eating out with people who:
1. Return food. Only exception is if you order something and they bring out the wrong dish entirely. Like you ordered a burger they bring out a chicken sandwich
2. Are remotely rude to the server
3. Don’t tip accordingly. 15% is the absolute bare minimum but 20% is the standard.

Tell the waitress when you arrive that your sister is going to try to find some reason to complain and return the food.

I once ate lunch out with my boss who sent his entree back because "it doesn't look appetizing." It looked fine to me. Some people just want to feel important and this is how they go about it.

It takes a lot for me to send food back. I pulled hairs out of food and kept it without saying anything.
Only if it's totally wrong or we'll done steak will I send it back.

Yeah there really is no point. Just suck it up and take whatever you get especially at fast food places. I always lol at someone walking a McDonald's burger up to the register saying something is not right

I have a buddy that complains non stop if his tea runs out, even though he just chugged the drink. I told him to quit acting like a bitch, but he doesn't care. I just quit meeting him for a bite because it's embarrassing and the waitress doesn't deserve to be treated that way.
