As a lifelong catholic, the catholic church needs to be dismantled. It is far too corrupt and the child sex thing is deplorable. Yet these people are going to tell me how to live my life (riddled with catholic guilt).

My wife and I did, for a time. It’s how we wound-up with our second child. We weren’t very good at it.

What is the difference of pulling out, or NFP? And really don’t see the difference between any other form of contraception. So, if you do it naturally enough, God’s OK with it… its just some human made theology.
But you don’t wanna piss God off, he did kill Onan for not nutting in his sister-in-law.
Sure, scripture supports being fruitful, but it doesn’t support being irresponsible.
Many of these verses where this theology can be derived from are neighboring awful prescriptions on the same topic, like nutting in your brothers wife, or being unclean if you nut that day. And then even more awful prescriptions not on the subject that people do not adopt today.

He killed Onan for using her to get his rocks off. He could have simply deferred to a junior relative (Boaz wasn't the first in line, but he married Ruth).

Everyone I know that used NFP has like 8-9 kids.
The idea is that to be Catholic are to raise their kids Catholics. What is a better way to spread Catholicism than to have your people have more people. So tell them not to use contraception and use "Natural planning" lol.

I find it's another way for the Catholic church to have some sort of control over your lives. My wife hates condoms, birth control wrecks havoc on her libido so we just use the pull out method. We have three kids and only tried for three kids so it's worked for us in the 18 years we've been together.

You're asking the difference between pulling out and finishing inside?

Like this is a bad thing?
Not necessarily. But it’s acting like a moral authority when it’s really all about the business.

Also how are they obsessed with sex?
Well, this thread topic. And condemning all contraception when more than half the women in the church are on BC. There’s also kind of a big child sex scandal.

Anyone here use Natural Family Planning?

I really never understood the whole point of NFP. I mean, isn't it a form of birth control? I get being "open to life" but if you're charting and doing all this stuff to not get pregnant, that doesn't really seem like you're open to much life. Putting a LOT of effort into a child you're not ready for. Why not just go balls to the wall and say frick it?

They don't call it Vatican Roulette for nothing. Plan accordingly.

It’s about the continuation of the church.
In other places in the us most Catholics send their kids to public school

So because the human congregation is full of sinners the church shouldn’t condemn the sin?

It is always a sight to see when religions make up weird rules and then come up with even weirder exceptions to the rule that make about zero sense.
They will tell you nfp is 100% effective if done correctly, and that’s somehow open to life, but taking the pill, which is only 99% effective even when taken correctly, is forbidden.
Like that wire that runs around manhattan that lets Jews get around sabbath rules.

If I recall correctly in a “normal”cycle there are about 8 days when she is fertile so if you are trying to not have kids that is your abstinence time. Unfortunately as nature dictates that is when she is most amorous so it can be tough. Other than that I have much longer than 8 day dry spells in my younger days so it’s manageable

During our pre-cana class, they had an anonymous question box and someone legit asked if blowjobs were a sin. The class teachers(married couple with 9 kids) said no but the male has to finish inside the wife. In a marriage retreat that we went to, same question was asked and the priest leading the class said that all forms of oral sex shall be forbidden. Like, make up your goddamn minds here.

Yeah it’s tough for me to consider contraception a sin when I’m married. Even when I’m not married. Who cares. You can disagree with the church on things and still be a part of it, you know.
All I’m saying is the church doesn’t have to push all this down our throats, but they do. And then when scandals happen it’s a big foot in mouth moment.

Are you supposed to count the time she’s bleeding as time for sex?

They just make it up on the spot.
I remember back in catholic school days kids would always ask questions about which sex acts were or weren’t a sin and to a person each religion teacher/nun/priest/etc would have varying and contradictory answers.
