doesn't have to be purely based on majors.....Ben Hogan seems like a good choice. who you got?

Nick Dunlap or Justin Thomas

Hogan or Palmer in the professional era. Bobby Jones also a strong contender IMO.

Calvin Heimberg is clearly #3 behind the champ Ken Climo and Paul McBeast

Kim Jong Un is number 1, so the answer is Tiger

Toss up between
Palmer, Hogan, Sneed, Watson, and Player.
Palmer is the 3rd biggest name, but I can’t put him as my #3 considering he didn’t complete the career grand slam. I probably put Hogan 3rd with his 9 majors. You can make a case for Sneed with 82 wins tied for most all time and 7 majors. Watson has 8 majors but he also did not complete the grand slam.

All the GOAT debates are unnecessary and somewhat comical, but people love them. It’s like moths to the flame. It’s hard, and unfair in ways, to compare players from completely different eras
I realize this is for 3rd best ever, but the point remains the same

Sam Sneed- tied with Tiger with 82 PGA Tour wins. A total of 142 professional wins and 7 Major Championships.

Phil Mickelson
Best Lefty of all time in a Righty’s game.
Arguably the most influential golfer of all time as well.

Palmer or Hogan and it’s not actually that debatable outside those 2

You'd think Trump considering how often he played while in office

Hogan and I don't think it's that close.
He is T-4 for all time majors and wasn't playing against a bunch of glorified ams like Hagen was for much of his career. He is 4th all time in Tour wins.
He lost 3 prime years due to service in the military during WWII and then lost another prime year due to his car accident.
Points docked from him due to playing against weaker fields than some of the later names that could potentially play claim to the title, but 1953 is the second-best year of all-time in golf, so major points for that.
