If you had to choose between the two, which would you pick and why?

I was looking through the different locations my employer owns, and I noticed there's a place in Slidell.

If you're not in the Oak Harbor/Eden Isles/Lakeshore Estates area the dell mostly blows.

Slidell is like Kenner with you're even trashier relative Pearl River next door. The exception is the Bayou Liberty area just to the west

This is the wrong place to get advice but they’re very different places.

I’m not even going to begin comparing & contrasting the two.

New Orleans East migrated to Slidell. Take that for what it’s worth. Oh, Chalmette did as well. Let’s just say it’s an interesting place now.

What’s your socioeconomic class? If you’re a baller just live in the city

If you’re a middle class working man, live in Slidell.

If you’re a baller but still don’t want to live in the city live in Mandeville

Are your options to work either in New Orleans or Slidell? If that was the case, I would work in Slidell & live in Mandeville.

Katrina ruined Slidell, both the storm and the population relocation. It was a pretty cool town before then.

Slidell used to be, and partially still is, a good town for commuters working in New Orleans. Not a fan of the section 8 housing popping up in the Eden Isles area. I'd still choose Slidell over New Orleans.
