Neither will leave the KC metro. Royals may move to KCK. I doubt the chiefs leave the Truman sports complex.

Let these mega wealthy owners self-finance in exchange for a tax deduction after the fact based on the local tax revenue earnings. Sports teams are not public works so they shouldn’t get direct taxpayer funding.

I love how the NFL has record viewership, most revenue ever, etc

Yet somehow they want the public to pay for their stadiums

I was there last week and was charged an arena tax. $8 for the rental car and $6 for the hotel. And they don't even have a pro team there

Worst part is they passed that tax in like 2007 and they're still paying for it.

I thought the NFL was more popular than ever. They should be swimming in money. Every team should be building brand new stadiums as we speak.

Yep, frick them. How about the billionaire pay for his own damn stadium upgrades? I already pay $650+ for a ticket for one game.

Also, blackmailing us about moving the team if we vote no? That only makes me want to vote no more. Suck my dick, Clark Hunt.

ETA: The Hunt family has an estimated net worth of almost 25 Billion dollars. LMAO

If Clark and his family skip the plastic surgeon for a year they’d have enough to pay for the upgrades.

More jurisdictions should follow Jackson County’s lead.

Great job by KC. Team has made money hand over fist during this current run. Insane that the expectation is that they would still go to the city with their hat in their hand for a handout all in the name of raising ticket prices on those same tax payers

as a KC area resident, this is GOOD!

People are finally waking up to the shakedown. It would be rough to see the Chiefs and Royals move but it would be a very poor reflection on those franchises, not the people of KC.

I would favor one option if I was a voter in a situation like this. The team can receive taxpayer money in exchange for equity in the form of partial team ownership. State, county, whoever puts up the money should be offered the option to own a part of the team.

But there's no way any major sports league or owner would agree to something like that.

This is why I felt there was value in not having teams in LA. Who is the new potential target used as a threat?

Good for the voters. I hate the fact that my tax dollars fund an NFL franchise. KC's current "run" is making that franchise and the NFL billions, especially with the recent pop culture windfall in revenue thanks to TSwift. The NFL is assuring KC these wins, they should also be funding everything else with it, not tax payers.
