I am currently unhappy at my job and i am looking for another one, mainly in something i actually want to do. Do you guys think that money is the key to happiness or does it make the lock to happiness easier to pick?
I am at a job right now that pays well but its just something i am not passionate nor interested in. The job that i am looking for is with the state but the pay is not as much as my current job but the benefits are amazing and i will be doing something i am very passionate about.

Having money certainly helps, but it’s not the only thing that matters. Money is a means to an end. Not the end itself.

Money isn't the key to happiness, but it helps. Basically, money removes certain stressors (mortgage, tuition, bills, debts) that keep us all up at night.
That said, having happy, healthy family > money.

Freedom is the key to happiness.
Money just makes “freedom” easier to obtain.

Having enough money to pay for your lifestyle is extremely important, because you will be inundated with stress, otherwise. What people tend to frick up is they think that their current lifestyle brings more relative happiness than it actually does, and moving to a job they like more and lowering their lifestyle expectations would actually make them happier than working a job they hate but having a "nicer" lifestyle.

They say that money isn't everything but I'd like to see you live without it

Money is the key to instant gratification but not caring what others think is the key to true happiness in my opinion. Sure, money buys vacations and tangible items which can make you happy in the short term but eventually that fades. Be yourself, do your thing, be a good dad/husband/son and you’ll be happy long term. Nobody needs huge houses, fancy cars, or extravagant vacations. Those are nice things of course but true happiness comes from intangible things that money isn’t going to buy.

I've come to the conclusion that happiness should not be the goal of one's life. Temperance, discipline, and keeping control of my "dashboard" seems to be where it's at for me personally.
Job performance, fitness, social life, spiritual life, and miscellaneous (projects / travel) all have to be "green" as a part of my dashboard for me to feel content and satisfied.
If I ever get to the point where I'm chasing happiness and neglecting my tasks / obligations, the anxiety starts to ramp up and the joy slips away.

Lots of rich folks get diagnosed wit cancer that no amount of money can cure. While we’re sleeping tight at night in our 2,000 sq ft homes, some very wealthy people can’t sleep in their mansions because they’re worried about not watching their nanny raise their kids for them due to the cancer taking them too soon.
Life happens and money has no say so many times.

Money is just one part of happiness, you still need to have relationships, goals and dreams.

Money helps to a point. There have been studies that quantify this, but basically they all seem to indicate it’s somewhere around the median household income. Beyond that, each incremental dollar you earn has rapidly diminishing impact on your happiness.
Pastor at a church I used to attend had a message once about “closing your circle”. Basically get to a certain point you’re content with and don’t let your lifestyle creep beyond that.

A life with more peace is a life where happiness can thrive and one can weather the hard times. Too much focus on consumerism is not a pathway to happiness IMO.

As long as my friends can afford boats, I’m set.

Having money certainly helps
This is a fallacy, at least to an extent. When you make more money, you end up increasing your wasteful spending without realizing it. You're sometimes left wondering how you appear to be in the same position, financially, as when you were making less. You have to be careful here, because if you're in this position including being unhappy, you're left feeling helpless.

Appreciating life, family, friends and God (if you're religious) are the keys to happiness. The biggest key that unlocks everything is appreciating yourself. Until someone accepts who he/she is and loves himself, that person will never truly be happy.
This is why suicide rates are so high today, because people see artificial lives and artificial happiness on the socials and think "why is that not my life?" while these images they see of others are cherrypicked snapshots in time showcasing a single moment as if it is their full lives. Then people use filters for their pictures only to see themselves in the mirror every day and wonder "why don't I look like that artificial picture I posted on the snaps?" Then people are told they can completely change who they are by making up 100 different genders only to discover they are still the same person they were at birth, so they delve deeper into a self loathing.
Money will only buy moments of joy, but joyous moments are not happiness. They help add to it, but without the love of oneself and the appreciation of all things in one's life there can never be happiness. It's just emptiness that has fleeting moments of joy
