Yes. I do solo trips as well and my wife usually attends one or conferences for CEUs on her own too (but meets friends there).

Haha, not necessarily for the bad. It's not a bad thing how y'all feel right now and it wouldn't be a bad thing to want to have a little of the opposite later.

I'm not married, but I am basically married, and we are perfectly ok with guys-trips or girls-trips or whatever, but we very rarely do because its more fun going places and doing things together.

Yeah.... that'll change.

On page one I asked why I’d want to go on vacation without my wife, which apparently bothered a few here for some strange reason.

But, along with what he said about it being more fun with his SO, that’s a genuine thing. And it doesn’t have to change. My wife and I have been together for almost 30 years. And if anything we enjoy one another’s company now more than ever.

No dancing bears. Just touristy activities and a lot of good food. It was nice to get away, first vacay in years.

No doubt! I completely get it. But I also understand if my wife wants to do a girls trip somewhere with her two sisters (who are married). And I would want her to understand why I would like to have an alone weekend hunting or golfing with friends.

yes I do them with buddies or even alone. more often than not alone. my wife does trips also but only with friends not alone.

of course we do family trips and trips with just me and her also.

I love to travel and am glad she doesnt hold me back from having the experiences I like to have.

Agree with all of the above.

Husband and I work remotely from home and spend almost all of our time together. That would jeopardize our relationship more than a trip if there were issues. We travel a lot together also. But I am not going on guided hunt bro trips and he is not going on shopping trips with the girls.

Maybe you ski blues and blacks and she can't get off the lift?

Maybe you like deep sea fishing and she's prone to motion sickness?

Maybe you like hiking and camping and she can't walk .5 miles without needing to stop for air, a burger and diet coke.

Maybe you work remotely and can travel without needing to take time off and she can't.

There are THOUSANDS of reasons that have nothing to do with not loving your wife or loving traveling with her. Hobbies, availability and interests are frequently very different and it's a good thing to cultivate those differences in each other and celebrate them so you're both better versions of yourselves for each other.

My wife is my favorite travel partner, because we like the same things when we travel. At the same time, that doesn't mean that I don't enjoy a guy's trip to the mountains or something like that.

Yes, average 3-4 times per year between us combined.

For the guys all the trips are a long weekend at most and tied to sports, a baseball or football weekend, bachelor party but ways less of those these days, or just celebrating a birthday.

For the ladies it could be a yoga trip or just a childhood/HS friends trip. Mostly long weekends but my wife has travelled international for a week or two on a girls trip. We also do several other joint trips each year. We are very middle class but like to travel and maximize CC and travel points.

While there is way more drinking and partying than all of us do at home I've come to realize nothing bad happens on these trips that hasn't or won't eventually happen at home.

Been doing a guys’ trip annually for 20+ years. 2001 was Vegas but we’ve gone to the Bahamas annually since then, except for 2020/2021 when we went to a casino in the NC mountains. We will be at the Atlantis this time in two weeks.

Lots of great memories made on these trips.

Our family does scouts.

So there are no "buddy" trips.
But we've had dozens trips with my sons and I in the woods or on a beach.
And I honestly enjoy hanging out with the other dads that I plan on continuing some of the trips (lake Lanier, snow skiing, Cumberland island) when the boys have already eagled.

I have done "excursions" with my father in law.

My youngest son was at the World's Robotics Competition in Dallas that the 3 of us flew to.

My oldest son joined my father in law and I on a motorcycle trip to Savannah.

My 2 girls joined my father in law and i for a rock concert trip to Savannah.

My youngest daughter joined my father in law and I at the Georgia High School State Track Meet in Albany, GA.

Yeah I get it. I think it was about two years ago my wife, daughter and her cousins took my MIL to Gatlinburg for her birthday. Really for us though, it usually doesn’t occur to travel without the other.

Yes.

I go on an annual 10 day deer camp to northern MO with 4 other guys.

My wife always does a 3-4 day girls trip to the beach or NYC with her friends.

I think it’s important that we do on our own things at times.

Yes.

Usually 2 sister trips a year. My sister lives in CA so one of those trips is either her flying here or me to see her. The other one is we pick a destination and meet each other there.

Sister time is nonnegotiable for me bc we live so far apart.

I also take several girls trips a year - usually just quick weekend trips.

But I, nor my friend group, am not the type of person who would frequent clubs or places that my husband wouldn’t be pleased if I were hanging out at.

My hubs doesn’t travel a lot for guys trips, but spends a lot of time with his brother fishing at the cabin / river and usually spends multiple weekends there throughout the year.

He also travels quite a bit for work stuff- I’m always invited but don’t always go.
