Uh, you're forgetting NM and AZ. AZ shares a full southern border with Mexico.

UH HUH TEXAS
My State

What is the difference of arresting a bank robber at First National Bank (a Federal crime) and arresting a non-legal citizen for any other Federal crime?

THEN DEPORT THE GUILTY.

I hope the TNM is making big headway in drawing support during this cycle

They've got a lot to work with here

This is good.

The conservative-majority court, with three liberal justices dissenting, rejected an emergency request made by the Biden administration, which said states have no authority to legislate on immigration, an issue the federal government has sole authority over.

It’s nice when they admit that they’re intentionally allowing this to happen. That doesn’t happen everyday.

Nobody is claiming that anymore really, but he still has his blind squirrel moments occasionally. I was thinking it was sort of refreshing to actually see a good ole "party line" 6-3 ruling.

Yes, and no.

This was steeped in the weeds of appellate procedure and the reticence of the SCOTUS jumping into something prematurely. It is not a blessing by the Court of the Texas law.

And I would expect the 5th Circuit to get involved shortly.

I'd be willing to pay substantially more in sales and property tax if it meant we were adding an army of deportation agents.

We already have some of the highest property taxes in the nation. No thanks

How about we tax liberals at 35% on everything and whatever revenue is generated from that, it goes to hiring DPS agents They would be stuck in a conundrum - stay in TX while your tax money funds what you hate or leave and get stuck in a crap state.

So if Texas can arrest and deport illegals now, can we assume that this will also deter illegals from traveling to TX once they’ve entered the country from another state like Cali? Similar legislation in other states across the south would have a multiplier effect.

After reading that ruling and dissent, the court rejected the stay on the law based on the fact that the 5th Corcuit used an “administrative stay” incorrectly, in this case letting the “administrative stay” carry on for too long without judging that the case did or did not have merits to enact a “stay pending appeal”.

The judgment says nothing about the constitutionality of the Texas law.

This is a temporary win for Texas (and honestly the nation as a whole) as best I can tell.

The constitutionality of said law will be determined later down the judicial line in currently ongoing cases.

Someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

Hopefully Texas sends as many of them out as possible before the constitutionality case is decided… there is precedent for the FedGov being the sole authority regarding entry and denial in immigration cases. With that said, there doesn’t seem to be any precedent set for “what happens when the FedGov isn’t working as it should?”.
