If we can’t build a physical wall, I say create a legislative one that sends a strong message that illegal entry into the United States and therefore illegal entry into a sovereign state will not be tolerated.

The judgment says nothing about the constitutionality of the Texas law. This is a temporary win for Texas (and honestly the nation as a whole) as best I can tell. The constitutionality of said law will be determined later down the judicial line in currently ongoing cases. Someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

You’re correct.

Hopefully Texas sends as many of them out as possible before the constitutionality case is decided… there is precedent for the FedGov being the sole authority regarding entry and denial in immigration cases.

You’re doubly correct. Texas will probably lose on the merits. So send them back now, and in as high a quantity as possible. Because the minute the district court rules against Texas on the merits, the law will be stayed by the District Court, Fifth Circuit, and SCOTUS before it’s eventually struck down.

With that said, there doesn’t seem to be any precedent set for “what happens when the FedGov isn’t working as it should?”.

Agree x3. The problem is that this can and should have long since been resolved by Congress.

Yet another example of every single political and social issue facing our nation being 100% the fault of Congressional inaction.

Well that's pretty much unavoidable at this point.

So if Texas can arrest and deport illegals now, can we assume that this will also deter illegals from traveling to TX once they’ve entered the country from another state like Cali? Similar legislation in other states across the south would have a multiplier effect.

I have no data to back that supposition, but your comment certainly makes sense.

Why would any illegal voluntarily enter an area (state) where local law enforcement has the authority to arrest undocumented aliens?
At the least they’ll face deportation or jail time.

Hell, unmitigated chaos at the border isn’t even “unavoidable” at this point. We’re beyond that.

It IS unmitigated and unsustainable chaos at the border. The federal government has egregiously failed the border states, and by extension every American.

The executive branch could just enforce the laws already passed by congress. That would be a fantastic start.

so california is about to get the full stampede of illegals coming across the boarder while texas is about to cut border crossing down to a few hundered a day

And the Biden admin will take credit for the drop in Texas crossings.

That too. No doubt that Biden currently has everything it needs to secure the border. Absolutely no push back there. But the broadest crux of the problem (and every other problem) is Congress delegating all of its primary functions to unelected executive agencies. It hasn’t just delegated enforcement to the executive. It has given its policy making decisions to the executive administrative state.

It’s literally the cause of every single political problem facing the United States. Immigration, the budget, defense spending, healthcare, education, the environment, etc. all of it. And I mean “literally” literally.

Every problem that you or any of us have with the federal government can be directly traced to Congressional inaction or delegation. It’s one of the things that makes me wonder if the United States wouldn’t be better served by a unicameral parliamentary system.

I'm kinda saddened by the new SC ruling. I thoroughly enjoyed TX busing them to Sanctuary cities/states and especially the Ultra Sanctuary Martha's Vineyard (remember that one single day they were there before gathered up and bussed away)

I'll take it. Good enough for now if Trump wins the election.

You will see immediate results in reduction of the flow of illegals through Texas. And then you will see Biden take credit for it. Watch.
