They need to stop giving the students the option to add the fee or not, and just add it. Students will never agree to add a fee. They don’t care about ULM athletics lol

When I was at SLU around 2012 they tried to add a $500/semester athletic fee by student vote. It got struck down fairly strongly. Between all the scholarships SLU gives out and TOPS, it wouldn't even have been felt by the vast majority of students. Enrollment was around 15k at the time so that extra $15m per year would have gone a long way in boosting athletics.

I applaud JMU students for paying the fee. Having good athletics is such an enhancement to the college expierence.

I'm just casually aware of the school by name; I know they just moved up to D1 (FBS) level, going to the Sun Belt.

I noticed them in football, where they went 11-1.
Now they go 31-3 in basketball, winning the tourney and auto bid...

That's impressive, no matter the conference.

nobody has mentioned their 2021 softball world series run when they upset no. 1 oklahoma.

The annual "predict a higher seed Wisconsin to lose in the first round" calls have begun. Despite the fact that the badgers are 17-4 in first round games since 2000.

kansas has won 16 first round games in a row and have lost 2 first round games since 1990 (been in every tourney) and it gets discussed ad nauseum every year for them. bill self has a better tourney win % than tom izzo and one of them is a certified choker and one of them is "mr. march"

people are stupid

Crazy how teams like coastal Carolina, app state and James Madison were fcs 15 years ago and now some of the top teams in the lower level of fbs football. Day 1 better than teams that have been there for years like ULM, Arkansas state, UAB, etc. just goes to show how much the culture of programs matters.

support means everything. if your school supports the program (financially) youll find success. if it doesnt, see ulm, etc. itll suck.

$150 per semester would net roughly the following annual amounts based on the quick Googling of enrollment numbers.

UL: $4.8 Million added to current $33 Million budget revenues

ULM: $1.95 Million added to current $19 Million budget revenues

LA Tech: $3.6 Million added to current $28.6 Million budget revenues

Not exactly insignificant dollars for those athletic programs.
heck for us that might be enough to scrub one of the pay day games and get to play someone we can actually beat like a mac school or something to actually get bowl eligible more often.

Bumping because they’re going to be the new premier sports program in Virginia. There is a ton of money pumping through that athletic program right now.

Up 7-5 on USC in the Raleigh regional

Had a great two semesters in Hburg back in the day. Great to see what’s happening there. Still think their old football coach is an idiot for leaving them for Indiana.

My brother in law was the punter/kicker there in college like a decade ago so it’s fun to watch them succeed since he’s so invested

He said their longtime AD is retiring soon, so they’ll have to make a good hire replacing him cause obviously the guy that’s been there forever was a game changer for them

Before James Madison got big the ostracized Auburn Tiger fans kicked off the 247 boards would just meet at the James Madison 247 and do their sour grapes talking since there were not many James Madison fans.

Tech's fees are equal to their tuition, screwing instate kids by essentially nullifying TOPS. Good luck adding MORE fees.

I lived in Virginia 19 years until April and people there just don't care about high school or college football.
