Replace it with Diversity, Equity, Inclusion?

Just sad what they are doing to this country.

From the article on the last paragraph.
quote:
The school added that the old phrase would still be adorned throughout the school as it is carved all over entrances and cadets’ uniforms.

That seems to contradict the actual article you cited.
quote:
“Duty, Honor, Country is foundational to the United States Military Academy’s culture and will always remain our motto,” Gilland wrote.
They are changing the mission statement to cite this as 'Army Values'. This is quite literally fake news.
quote:
The new mission statement for the senior army leadership will now read: “To build, educate, train, and inspire the Corps of Cadets to be commissioned leaders of character committed to the Army Values and ready for a lifetime of service to the Army and Nation.’”

quote:
“Duty Honor Country is West Point’s motto and the foundation of our culture as it has been since 1898,” Kelley said. “As we have done nine times in the past century, we have updated our mission statement to now include the Army Values, loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage.”
The school added that the old phrase would still be adorned throughout the school as it is carved all over entrances and cadets’ uniforms.

The neutering of our once great military continues. Meanwhile neck beards and blue hairs everywhere rejoice this move.

JBE is disappoint. He is Mr. Honor Code.

Could mean anything.

Who is the weakest country that employs the worst employees?

They are dropping "Duty, Honor, Country" from the Mission Statement (it was only added to it in 1998). Duty, Honor, Country is remaining the Motto.
So...the motto dates back to 1898, but it was 100 years later when it was added to the Mission Statement...and now, 25 years later, it has been dropped from said statement.
Personally, I don't know why you would drop the motto...just read George MacArthur's speech from 1962, when he addressed the Corps and emphasized the motto's significance, and you will understand why it embodies what West Point is all about.

A sad day. Many will rightly weep at it.
quote:
No human being could fail to be deeply moved by such a tribute as this, coming from a profession I have served so long and a people I have loved so well. It fills me with an emotion I cannot express. But this award is not intended primarily for a personality, but to symbolize a great moral code – the code of conduct and chivalry of those who guard this beloved land of culture and ancient descent. That is the meaning of this medallion. For all eyes and for all time, it is an expression of the ethics of the American soldier. That I should be integrated in this way with so noble an ideal arouses a sense of pride and yet of humility which will be with me always.
Duty, Honor, Country: Those three hallowed words reverently dictate what you ought to be, what you can be, what you will be. They are your rallying points: to build courage when courage seems to fail; to regain faith when there seems to be little cause for faith; to create hope when hope becomes forlorn. Unhappily, I possess neither that eloquence of diction, that poetry of imagination, nor that brilliance of metaphor to tell you all that they mean.
-Douglas MacArthur

They're subtly changing it to "Doody on our country"

I just texted grad school buddy about this who is a West Point grad with two tours in Afghanistan.
His response: "It's nothing, people trying to make something out of nothing".
