The trick is to have a boner when they’re asking the base line questions at the beginning.

You can cheat them. I have really bad anxiety, so the only time I was put on one it really could not tell the difference.

That's how I have always felt, like my anxiety is so naturally high, but I'm also a classic over thinker, so any question about the issue at hand would cause so much anxiety from me, just because I would be like "omg this is the question, don't be nervous" regardless of guilt or innocence.

Disappointed in how long this thread took for a Meet the Parents reference lol

The stress factor is already high being hooked up. The baseline questions establish the elevated “normal”. Then when you lie there is a higher elevated bio responses which is recorded.
People mini-panic just getting hooked up.

And it’s specifically the anal sphincter.
Humans have other sphincters as well.

No they are not admissible in a criminal trial, although they may be admissible in an administrative hearing. See Evans V Deridder Municipal Fire 815So2d 61 La Supreme Court.

But wouldn't a higher level occur just by the nature of the question? Like if you know you are being questioned about a bank robbery, if a question like that is brought up your heart rate will increase, yes or yes?

Buddy of mine said to take a Valium if you have time and it’s a planned event & you can prepare with notice etc….
Didn’t say that a Valium guarantees you’ll pass, but gives much greater odds.

You could pass with flying colors and they can tell you that you failed miserably.
This is the tactic they use. 1 - they try to convince you that the polygraph is infallible and if you lie they will see it. 2 - if they suspect you're lying about something, they'll come back and tell you that they "detected" deception in an answer and try to scare you into giving the "honest" answer if you didn't originally.
The only way they work is if you fall into this trap and confess to something where they suspected deception. They will take your admission outside of the polygraph in court. They will not accept the results of the polygraph, but if you are coerced into admission, they will take the admission.

They are.
Google is your friend.
They are BS, but they are indeed admissible..
As are the counters, showing you passed.

Google may be your friend,
The Louisiana Supreme Court is my friend and since 1979 the La SC held in State v. Catanese , 368 So.2d 975 (La. 1979 that "polygraph results are per se inadmissible in criminal trials" If you have case law from the La Supreme Court were they reversed themselves please cite it.

They can also be beaten by someone who is guilty. A lot of sociopaths don’t feel nervous or remorse and can answer calmly with a bold faced lie

Listen, in principle, we agree.
But in fact, other states do allow them to be admissible.
