$2,100/mo for two and I don’t even think twice about cutting that check. It’s an absolute necessity.

I find if the wife isn’t buying in it usually comes down to the three Cs (communication, collaboration, and coordination). Sometimes you have to give up a dirt road to not lose a bridge.

Let them win a battle or two so they’re part of the process. Routine check ins are key as well to ensure the buy in is still there.

The only thing I think twice about is how I budget my time. I can make more money. I’m a reasonable person so if I want something I get it. I can’t make more time.

Yea, I could do the lawn myself but I don’t feel like buying and storing all of the equipment.

I don't sweat it if the meat I want isn't on sale, but hell if I don't shop when it is on sale. I guess I think about everything I spend, but I don't let it hold me back from spending if it is something the family or I really want or need.

Just an example, I need a chuck roast, my wife knew they were on sale somewhere $3.99lb, the store we were at had them at $4.99lb. She would have went to the other store, I was like "Is it really worth $4 to drive to another store and wait in another checkout line??? We got the one where we were at.

For us it's groceries. We don't spend lavishly on much, modest everything. But we meal plan for the week based on what we want to eat, and whatever the cost, we don't think twice. Helps that we buy very minimal box stuff, but we never shop meat/produce sales. We will get what's in season but that has to do with quality.

I used to think this way but it’s gotten so ridiculous I have to budget and plan fairly strictly.

We’re still eating well, probably better than most, but our old way of doing groceries was hitting $1600/month for a family of four. We really need that at $1200-$1300 for room to eat out when needed/desired.

So now I hit up three grocery stores every Sunday to make sure I’m getting the best deals.

Everything else in life is better when you are eating good food that you enjoy.

My chauffeur and pilots salary. I don’t care what it costs, I’m not driving myself when I could instead be kicked back sipping on a glass of Chateau Lafite 1869
