Cable television . Without 347 channels I never watch, I feel like the cable companies will be unhappy with me and I need their approval to feel good about myself.

Groceries is probably the main one. I am about to have a nervous breakdown over child care and lawn care. Yea, I could do the lawn myself but I don’t feel like buying and storing all of the equipment.

Here lately we do exactly the same. Meal planning has really helped us eat alot more healthy and it simplifies things for me because I never have to wonder what I am going to eat next.

So yes, I really don't care how much chicken thighs are because I know that they will be exponentially cheaper than what I would have paid for them in a restaurant.

Kinda the same. I mean, if we want steak or lobster (just some examples) for a meal we get it but we don’t eat like that for every meal either. Usually lower key during the week and nicer meals on the weekends.

None, because I plan accordingly starting every year with goals and personal KPIs. From there we start benchmarking metrics and plans to meet on monthly and quarterly basis with check in meetings weekly.

It’s amazing people spend a week per year doing this for their departments or companies to build success but won’t have a handful of family meetings to do this at their own home. They’d rather be lazy and blame the government and inflation for their own mistakes and downfalls.

Failing to plan is planning to fail. Most weak men are scared to put it all on paper because they know the truth hurts.

Gas

The price of gas has never influenced any decision.

Everyday I try to bring grocery budget under 1k for a family of 5 we totally blow through it.

I also include all items not just food because I’m not itemizing grocery store receipts on my budgeting app. So dog food, toilet paper, paper towels end up in this pot.

We cook 99% of our meals at home. Fresh fruit for kids always on hand. Chuck roast chicken thighs, chicken breast, smash burgers.

I just made peace with budgeting 1.2k per month and calling it a day. Worth it for quality home cooked meals with plenty of variety. Costco is a good 400-600 of it per month.

Last month we spent 1.6 in a short month

We are fortunate to bring over 150k per year.

I have no idea how homes with 45-60k incomes are eating. Unfortunately probably fast food value menus and pre packed junk.

People in Louisiana do not ever forgo alcohol. Price of gas goes up and hell breaks lose. Price of michelob ultra goes up and you don't here a peep

Don’t budget.
Going to buy what I want and need anyway. I don’t even price shop. Never even look at the price of groceries or gas.
Always respected the people who do though.

This. Had to call an audible in my household after Christmas. We were basically blowing 3k a month. My wife was standoffish initially, I went thru 3 months of statements, averaged everything out, then laid it on the table.

Told her it's her choice where, but we were cutting 2k. So far so good 3 months in.
