Don't you only have like the first 24 hours to contact airbnb also?

The lockbox on the airbnb had the wrong key and the owner won't leave a party to bring them a key. He told them to get a hotel.

Thats when you break a window or crap on the front door. Depends where any cameras are located.

This is pretty much a ban-able offense for Airbnb. He will be forced to pay for the hotel and his listing will be at bottom of algorithm OR they nuke it. If they call Airbnb, and have to book a hotel, Airbnb will reimburse them for it

That's what I thought. I don't use many AirBNB but figured something like this was bad for bookings.

Essentially leaving two guests out on the street near midnight. Not a good look.

You know where I've never had problems getting a key?

A hotel.

Ah, I see you've never traveled outside of the big cities in Europe? Keys are still very popular in Europe even in hotels.

10 years ago we checked in to a small hotel in a ski town during the summer that we booked on Booking.com and apparently we were supposed to be there before 7pm for check in. We got there at like 7:05 and they were still shutting down, or else we would have been screwed. No nightly front desk. This wasn't a huge place but they had like 25 rooms throughout the 3 buildings.

OP, you need to have them call Airbnb shite customer service asap to get the host fricking started and ask for money back. Airbnb customer service almost always sides with the guest but I'm not sure I 100% believe your story so you need to start the process asap.

They're gonna call as soon as they get into a new room.

I wouldn't leave a party for that shite either.

You wouldn’t leave a party to bring your customer the correct key after you apparently left the wrong key in the lockbox? What a piece of shite.

Why would you stay in an AirBNB in another country? (assuming they are not familiar with the place).

Ive only stayed in AirBNBs a couple of times, and both times it was in other countries when i was staying for a month or longer.. Do you know how much it would cost to stay in a regular hotel for a month ? Even in an LCOL country, that would add up quick versus AirBNBs which tend to be much cheaper for longer stays .
