If you were going to keep one gun in a big out bag what would you use? Gun is going to stay in the bag sans for cleaning and shooting every once in a while.

I can’t decide between a G19, 38/357 stainless revolver , or .22 stainless revolver/ or MKIV .22

G19 with the .22 a close second for ammo availability and expense.

You could throw one of these little Henry rifles in there as well. All the components fit in the butt of the gun and it floats when not put together.

300 Blackout AR Pistol with a LAW Tactical Folding Stock.

Fits in a backpack, doesn't lose velocity or punch with a 8 inch barrel, quite if suppressed with sub sonic ammo. Enough punch to take down a deer or hog.

Only downside is cost of ammo but if it's only to get me home to my other guys, it works.

Why a G19 vs a 17/19x/45? If it's in a bag and I'm not concealing, I want something with a full sized grip.

If you're limited to a bag, then a 19blike others have said.

But my bug out gear loadout is way too much stuff to carry in a duffle bag. You're not fitting body armor, a ballistic helmet, molle belt with IFAK, ammo pouches and drop leg holster, etc all stays in my front office room ready to be used or thrown in a pickup at a moment's notice.

If you have a bug out bag, where are you going? A 9mm isn't very useful in the open country, walking down the road, etc.

Assuming you want to keep it smaller, but I'm not sure as said why you wouldn't at least upgrade to a full size pistol.

But honestly, if its something small that I'm leaving the house with, I'd think a SBR would be best.

I guess we should have asked… are you planning for the most likely scenarios where you’d need to bug out, or the apocalyptic Hollywood style SHTF scenario that everyone on the internet likes to plan for

Ruger 10/22 and MK1 bull barrel. I am more concerned about food than defense. Much easier to carry 1000’s of 22 rounds than 9’s. Most think gun fights are cool, but very few are truly ready. I am only looking to feed my family and keep them hidden. Plus a 22 hollow point will make any man think twice after he has been hit. Rambo is far from what you will be facing when SHTF. Keep moving, stay low, and learn to appreciate your next meal. I would have room for my P226 Mags 2@15 and 1@20 rounds. A shoulder holster is convenient

To answer your specific question, Glock 19 as 9mm and 17/19 mags are ubiquitous AND, throw this in the bag and your 19 becomes a solid mid range (50 yards) weapon.

Drop in platform with brace

I keep a Kel tec sub 2000 9mm and a Smith &Wesson M&P . Both take the same mags.
