Caitlin Clark needs 18 points to pass Pistol Pete's all-time scoring mark.

Caitlin has 1 remaining game left on this upcoming Sunday, against Ohio State.
Obviously, this comes with the asterisk that Pete did this in 3 years. Caitlin is doing it in 4. Nobody will ever truly surpass what he accomplished. Even still, it's very impressive for her to be in a place where few have ever come close to reaching in college basketball history.

Pete also didn’t have a 3pt line.

Sigh.
Women’s basketball. Totally different category. These threads are tedious.

I guess it’s more impressive than Mike Davis’ kid chucking his way over 5 years only to fall just short

Her record compared to Pete should be disregarded the same way that dude from Detroit Mercy's would've been
They are not the same situation as Pete and to value them equally is nonsense.

Yay another Caitlin Clark thread. This board loves it some womens basketball.

Yeah, that's the asterisk. Not that she plays a different sport.

Pistol had a penis. She does not. Two separate records.

I think Clark needs to play a 5th year (Covid) to really put some distance on all the college basketball stats. She's probably more popular now and getting more in endorsements than she would at the WNBA level, especially since she's breaking all these records. I'm sure there would be plenty more to break next year.

Caitlin Clark looks like a man.

Or the fact that one played women's basketball and the other men's basketball. Yes, they are the same sport. But totally different competition levels.
For example, Sha'Carri Richardson (LSU) holds the NCAA record in the 100m with a time of 10.75. I don't recall much pomp and circumstance last year when EVERY male athlete that ran in the NCAA championships semifinals last year obliterated that time. Literally, the guy who finished last (23rd) ran a 10.33. Why does Richardson get any notoriety for her time that is clearly nowhere near the record. It's the same sport after all. 100m is 100m.
Clark is a great player. The best scorer in NCAA women's basketball history. Why can't her accomplishment stand on its own? Because if ANYONE is being intellectually honest they would acknowledge she wouldn't have scored anywhere close to the amount of points she has if she had to play against men's basketball players. Hell, she'd probably be the first to acknowledge that.

Congrats to her, thousands of hours sharpening those skills pays off.

Would be a good time.
Just kidding.
But seriously though

Maybe she’ll get her period this weekend and can’t play.
Posted on 2/29/24 at 5:36 pm to QJenk
I mean it's completely different sports.

There should be no asterisk. Bc this is a different sport and should have never been compared.

I’m glad this bothers LSU fans.

The asterisk is that she played women's ball, that's it.
