The company didn’t release a list of closed restaurants. Local reports show that Outback locations in Pennsylvania, Iowa and every Outback restaurant in Hawaii recently shuttered. Bonefish Grill locations in New Jersey and Virginia also closed, plus at least three Carrabba’s locations in New York closed.
Of the 41 closures across the brands, 33 restaurants were closed Friday, a Bloomin’ spokesperson told Nation’s Restaurants News.

I can remember 30 + years ago, Outback Steakhouse used to be good. My best friend used to work there, and they would hand-select their steaks. Everything was made from scratch, even their baked potato soup. And the chicken breast they served was huge.
Have you seen it now? It's a shell of its former self. A restaurant that lost its way, where cost-saving measures took priority over quality, portions shrunk, and prices increased. And this is the result, a restaurant where value took precedence lost out to price, but with no perceived value today.
Edited to add.
Fleming's bar bites --- does that even exist anymore? used to have the best hamburger in town. And if you are a chocolate lover, Fleming's still has the best dessert in town --- chocolate molten lava cake. The best thing to eat at Fleming's isn't their steak. It's their double-cut pork chop. Today, I rarely go to steakhouses, not because I don't like them, but because they are so expensive.
Ruth's Chris for me, still offers the best steak anywhere, along with great service. Second, is probably Del Frisco's or Morton's The Steakhouse. Third, Smith & Wollensky. My least favorite: is Nick & Sam's.
My list of steakhouses that I have eaten at (none recently):
Del Frisco's
Pappas Bros Steakhouse
Fleming's
Staub's
Nick & Sam's
Knife Dallas
Bavettes's
Bern's Steak House
Mr. John's
Perini Ranch Steakhouse
Shula's Steakhouse
Charley's Steak House
Perry's Steakhouse & Grille
Wolfgang's Steakhouse
Steiner Ranch Steakhouse
Vic & Anthonys
Brennar's on the Bayou
Morton's The Steakhouse
Doris Metropolitan
The Capital Grille
Smith & Wollensky
I've blown some money on "steakhouse experiences."

I was a busboy at Carraba's many years ago and everything on the menu was legit.
Steak Marsala
Chicken Piccata
Mussels
Bread
All the pasta dishes.
Garlic mashed potatoes
Full bar with a good wine list
Tiramisu
Pep talks before every shift to focus on a wonderful customer experience.
This was over 20 years ago though, don't know what it's like now.

Good and they can take their imported shrimp with them. Eat local.

In my opinion, there isn’t a better steak to be found than the medium ribeye at Flemings. I’ve tried Morton’s, Ruth’s Chris, Stabs, Sullivan’s, and countless others both in Louisiana and outside Louisiana.
1. Flemings
2. Beef House in Covington, Indiana
3. Ruth’s Chris
4. Everyone else

I dated a Outback Waitress, 50% off I was eating Steak, loaded potato's and broccoli daily with an unlimited supply of that bread.

Outback went to shite a long time ago. Once the bean counters took over how they were run, it was bound to happen.

Why was Nick & Sam’s your least favorite? Just curious as we go there a couple of times a year & it is always amazing.

Steakhouses are for a special occasion. Cooking a steak is easy and you can buy any cut of meat almost anywhere you want nowadays. People that truly appreciate steak are probably the ones that prefer to cook it themselves.
Chain restaurants have been declining for a while now. There has been a push to eat local. Restaurant chains used to be better because they had a huge advantage to sourcing products and enjoying economies of scale. It's easier today to source and ship food, so their advantage has dwindled. On top of that, they have too many people on the tit. The have become a corporation that doesnt care about food, they care about money. A good restaurant requikres someone that truly cares about the product they serve. This is why restaurants usually take a downturn when the founder's children take over. Less heart involved and more people involved to split the profit.
Large chains are the worst. They will hire some MBA in the corporate office to figure out how to increase profits. Then the dumbass will say hey, if you stop giving people napkins with their sandwich we will save 3 million dollars nationwide. They do it, they save 3 million dollars, and they say wow good job dumbass. Well, now you have customers that have a slightly less enjoyable experience and they remember that and maybe even go less that they did before, Losing 5 million dollars in revenue annually nationwide. Then they will hire another dumbass to figure out why sales are down. And cost of all these studies and employees is passed onto the customer.

They are about to open an Outback in the city of Bham (just north of UABs campus in midtown). Very odd location to me. Construction looks complete and should be opening this month I think.

This used to be in my top 5 as well then we ate at the original in NYC last year. It was not good. Have eaten there and other locations many times and it was always top quality with excellent service. Was very disappointed.

My last two Outback experiences were terrible. Horrible service and mediocre food.
Still go to Carrabbas several times per year and its always a good experience.

Went to outback steakhouse in November for the first time in probably 10 years, it was a total disaster.
The servers were standing around on their phones like zombies, they brought out appetizers the same time as our steaks, the steaks were not warm, the vegetables were soggy….. the only thing memorable was the bread that we dipped in honey mustard dressing.
I was actually very sad because the last time I ate there I remember it being a fairly decent place to eat with great service.
It is no surprise they are closing restaurants, and now that I think about it, it is shocking that they have not all closed by this point based on the catastrophic meal I had recently.
