Owned a ‘13 5.7L Big Horn
Casual truck owner, towed light loads with occasional boat being towed as well
Most times I filled the truck bed up with home/garden materials
LOVED it for what I needed.
Ten years of ownership. 200k miles. No mechanical problems at all until the end when the torque converter started to go bad. Still very drivable though

I dont think they've resolved the cam/lifter issues on those.
I could be wrong as it's been a while since I looked, but I thought that was a 5.7 issue that was resolved with the 6.4?

In the 3/4 tons and up you might be right. Most of the "hotshot" haulers are Fords.
No one is harder on trucks than those companies.

Oh no. I know of quite a few fleet trucks laid up waiting on engine replacements right now. Hopefully they fixed it by now but I doubt it. If it wasn't for that stupid shite I'd be strongly considering one right now.
Unfortunately it looks like a chevy 6.6 gasser is my only option in the 3/4 ton market right now if I don't want engine trouble

thanks, well that stinks because I love the 2500 6.4 more than any truck on the road but I just can't get past their poor reliability

In the half tons, the Hemi/ZF 8 speed has been a great combo since 2013. The few issues are mostly worked out and well known at this point. The most common issue on the Rams now is rear window frame cracks and leaking and they've extended the warranty on that. Ram and Ford are the best interiors with GM lagging behind.

By far my favorite truck. Miles ahead of Ford/Chevy when it comes to functionality, appearance, and engineering
You must keep yours strictly on the highway pulling your lawnmower. If your rough on trucks and work them, Ford is the most reliable, that’s not an opinion that’s a fact.
I have a 2021 F-150. Most recalled vehicle in America. ALways something wrong. I'll go Ram on my next.

Also, the dodge half-ton is the most car-looking truck out there. Look like a L-camina. I wouldn’t drive one if it were a fkn gift.

If you want something that has poor reliability and is constantly in the shop, they're great.
Funny. I've owned 2. 1st was a 94 (first year of the new model). I drove it for 13+ years with honestly no repairs except for a water pump. Next one ('08) was traded in in 2021. That one required a water pump and a starter.
Yeh, I guess my mechanic made a fortune off of me in those years.

Do yourself a favor and get a 22 or earlier Tundra. The last good truck made.

Thanks for the gentle correction. My 2012 with 250k is still rollin' never an issue. It's a magnet for deer though. Upgrading to a steel front bumper soon.

I bought a 5.7 used with 88k miles and towed everything under the sun with it. Had a 1500 and loved the ride and comfort. Sold it and bought a new 2500. 100k on it and love it. I also have a 1500 lease that I use for business. It literally drives like an Escalade. Alpine stereo kicks arse and very quiet ride. I love Rams. I have never owned a Ford or other brand as I always felt like they were overpriced.

On my second one because I love them that much. People shitting on Ram mostly have no idea how good the 5th gens are. Anything prior? Yeah, probably stay away.

Seeing huge discounts on Rams' right now locally. Not surprising given their inventory issues. You could by a limited for less than a Tundra limited, and it's got tons more tech and features. It could be tempting for sure if you felt comfortable buying one.

I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9L diesel. It looks rough, but it runs like a freaking beast.
Oh, and it's a 5-speed manual.
(The automatics have been known to shred the transmission. Too much torque.)
I'm frequently getting asked if I'm willing to sell it, which amazes my wife because she thinks it's hideous.
