Armageddon is a way of life, and a dream to oilfield trash and plant baws.
It has a guy nicknamed Rockhound.

Is that the movie where NASA thought they could train oil workers to be astronauts quicker than they could train astronauts to drill into an asteroid???
I actually don't have a problem with that. It would have been impossible to give a group of astronauts the raw experience required to be able to on the spot problem solve drilling issues under pressure like they would have had to do.
It's relatively realistic to train the drillers in a few days on whats required to go into space with two trained and experienced pilots to get them to the rock.

Armageddon is the finest film ever made
The theatrical cut or the director’s cut?

But it still ranks 2nd in global disaster movies dealing with extinction level threats from space.
I can ride with this if DI isn’t #1. Because last time I checked, Independence Day still exists.

Dammit, I KNEW someone would find the 'alien' loophole.

The part where they were drilling offshore was so realistic.

Much like Titanic, the wonderful supporting cast of this film did everything humanly possible to save it from the excesses of its director, (a ridiculous story in almost every way in the case of Armageddon) and the terrible romantic leads.

As I post this, I can’t remember the difference. Can’t remember details from either one. Guess I was concentrating on popcorn in both.

They are cheesy as hell but I still love all those mid to late 90s Bruckheimer style action movies
The Rock
Independence Day
Con Air
Armageddon
Broken Arrow
Executive Decision

I would say it’s peak and possibly the GOAT “popcorn flick”. Fun, easy to watch, and not too cheesy.
I feel like Hollywood has forgotten how to do these type of movies

My teenage self seems to remember a boob making an appearance as well.

I love when Bruce Willis is negotiating what they want he throws in “oh yeah, none of us want to pay taxes…ever”.

She should have been in the hated character tournament bracket.

It also had William Fichtner from prison break and Jason Isaacs from the patriot.
