My time in WI and CA would beg to differ. Go the the right gas station out here on a Friday and you'll be behind 3-4 construction guys buying 1-2 tall boys for the ride home.

They used to have this law in Oxford MS but I thought it was because the mayor owned an ice company or some shite.

Both Oxford AND Starkville did this shite up through the '90s I believe.

Are DUIs even that big of an issue in most places now? Obviously, they still happen some, but I'm much more worried about getting hit by someone posting on Instagram.

Two Republican lawmakers have introduced legislation seeking to ban sales of refrigerated alcohol at convenience stories and retail establishments while also placing new restrictions on alcohol consumed in bars and restaurants absent a designated driver or alternative means for patrons to get home safely. The bill titled the Tennessee Prevention of Drunk Driving Acts is sponsored by Rep. Ron Gant of Piperton and Sen. Paul Rose of Covington.

They must be trying to not get re-elected

Or they’re in the Moonshine business

The first time I went somewhere and was told I was in a 'dry county' I didn't really know what that meant.

Gant was hit by a drunk driver a year or so ago- head on and almost killed him IIRC, I think this is personal to him.

I’m running errands so no link. But y’all know how to google…

In any case, I’m not a beer drinker, but I’d vote for y’all baws to have cold beer fwiw

The crazy thing, if I don't ever seem to run into the people trying to ban cold beer sales or stop marijuana legalization in real life.

It feels like "our" politicians are just a tiny subset of the population who, many of them, scammed their way into office with BS campaigns and are now just doing whatever the hell they want.

Yeah that's what happened to Gant. I don't know Rose's motivation.

Are you from or live around Piperton?
I have close family connections there.
