Why did it end with Chani rested bitch face?
She’s probably gonna be the hero in the third movie.
*spoilers from book 3*
I can see them having her as the Preacher and Paul as Leto II trying to stick to the Golden Path. I almost thought he was gonna say it when he said he could see all possible futures and there was a narrow way forward.
I could also see them having Alia as Leto II and Paul as Alia.
I understand why Villeneuve tamped down on some of the weirdness. We don’t get these movies if they don’t appeal to a broad audience. I’m just not a fan of Zendaya and hope I’m wrong.

I dont know what it is about her other than she feels forced as a hot, desert wandering fighter.

it's either because the one episode of Euphoria I watched disgusted me, or because she got her start on Disney Channel when my kids were growing up, but hot is never a word that's come up for her.
ironically, and maybe because i don't know her as a child actor, Sidney Sweeney (who is younger AND on Euphoria) doesn't trigger the same reaction for some reason.

Just got back from the movie. Pretty bad arse.

She always brings that sarcastic, nihilistic, I don’t give a frick attitude to every character she plays and I thought it was out of place for Chani

To me, there was something “off” with most of the movie. The first one felt much more like and artistic masterpiece, this one felt more dumbed down and “hollywood”.
Still good enough for me to enjoy, but sort of a let down in a few ways.

Prefacing this with I’ve only seen the two movies, have only just started reading the books:
In the cinematic version, Chani is pretty clearly set up as a foil to Irulan as we move forward. Hence Irulan kept getting intermittent screen time around Chani and Paul’s relationship development.
Chani is the Ygritte to Irulan’s Dani. It’s not a “girl boss” thing, it’s a “love triangle that will affect the politics of the universe for Part 3” thing. I’m exhausted by female leads being bitchy just because they’re bitchy (see True Detective S4) but it felt like her skepticism was warranted in the beginning, her love for Paul in the middle was well conveyed, and her pain in the end when he lost her trust was earned. Idk how she was supposed to have been portrayed in some of yalls minds that fits the plot and setting?
Overall, really enjoyed it (and agree with whoever said this is the kind of movie you are meant to buy a ticket and see in theaters. Hair stood on end for the majority of the third act). This is a modern epic in an era when we thought they couldn’t be made with the same majesty anymore. It’s well worth seeing in real time and I’m hopeful that a Part 3 is going to round out a quality trilogy that we also thought wouldn’t be made after LOTR. Came away from it feeling like in an MCU world, good blockbusters do in fact still remain.
The cinematography capturing Feyd on the Harkonnen world was absolutely stunning. Can’t help but feel like Denis indirectly pointed out what the Sith world could have/should have been in SW…

agree with this. they thought they were being cute in spiderman, but i felt like she's made that her whole persona since then and it's off putting.
there's not a lot of stars i'll go see because they're in something (Tom Cruise, Chris Pratt, etc.) but she's doing nothing to be endearing.

Trying not to be too in the moment here but this will likely be my favorite movie of the year. Starts a little slow but it was a banger once it started moving.

She’s by far the worst part of the film.

Holy frick that was epic! That final third was insane. Maybe a top 3 sci fi movie of all time for me. Need to see it again.

I enjoyed Part 2. Walken's voice is a little distracting but he didn't have that much dialogue. Feyd-Rautha and the Gidei Prime scenes were some of the best parts of the movie. Dune is a complicated universe and some of things from the books are just...not fit for mass consumption. I think the liberties taken worked and didn't harm the flow of the story.

I haven’t had a drink in years and never really had much of a hankering for one too much but leaving the theater on the drive home I really really really wanted a drink

Just got out... yeah that was epic. Kind of at a loss for words of how good that was

Same here. It was way better than the first one!

Loved it, definitely a movie that needs to be seen in theaters(I didn’t see it in IMAX but I’m sure that’s even better).

I loved this movie. Have not walked away from a theater feeling like that since the Dark Knight.

Just got back home from seeing the movie. We really enjoyed it. Glad we saw it in the theater.

Man, I’m not even a huge Dune fan, but that was fricking awesome. Definitely needs to be seen in theaters.

#1 was way better than the sequel
(edit) People that love transformers or marvels will love it.
The first Dune was really good.
