Jeff Landry is who Jeff Landry has always been. Too bad half the state can be totally blinded by a single letter and their love for a diaper-wearing wannabe dictator.

It's not a supermajority.

Appointed a chick in her mid 20s, who has never lived in Louisiana, and who has zero experience, to be the head of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

It's this kind of thing that Landry will do the entire time he is in office--shovel money to friends.

Ah, so that's why he made an executive order to formally establish and fund the Office of the First Lady.

His latest executive order looks like he's trying to get rid of CPRA as an independently run (not technically) agency and put it back under direct control of DNR. Consolidating the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority with another agency doesn't seem like the full commitment to the State's Coastal Master Plan he was talking about a few days ago.

You could have really wrapped up that map in legal heel and extended. The map drawn right now is so racist it's not even funny.

It has to be since the census. The Dems in the legislature have been crowing about it since.

The false premise (that a white rep cannot represent the interests of black folks) that is just accepted by the political powers-that-be is the reason for things like this. They're transparently about empowering Democrats, but it is what it is. It has been in the works most of JBE's second term (again, since the 2020 census).

What would the difference gave been had a judge drawn it up? Did the legislature make it a 50.1% black district?

That would be the point. The map was designed to be rejected, with a sprinkle of screwing Garrett Graves because Landry is as petty as they come.

Prety close. The two minority districts are now 51 and 53 percent. When there was only one minority district, it was north of 70 percent, I believe.

Sounds like its a favorable outcome considering.

Cleo Fields was happy about it. That automatically means it—or at least not all of it—can be a favorable outcome.

Though it would benefit Louisiana to have competitive districts. Same as anywhere else. Gerrymandering to make safe districts is a big part of Congressional dysfunction. We’re sending ideologues and fringe mouthpieces to Congress, not anyone that’s actually beholden to their constituency. Representatives in partisan (either party) +20 districts have no incentive to actually govern.

Landry is requiring all state agencies to use a specific blue, textured ink printed letterhead for correspondence, rather than the free photocopied letterhead they have been using for years. The result is a massive, multimillion dollar expense for printing formal letterhead. What I haven't been able to find out yet is who is getting the money.

Is that actually true?

Sorry Cong. Graves, but you should have been on the Louisiana train, not the McCarthy train. And just like Bill Cassidy is going to find out, that kind of talk will bite you in the arse

Good luck on whatever thing you do post election

That's fair, but does that change what Landry said?

I don’t see any quotes from Landry.

Post the entire speech.

Are there pros cons of this sale?

No doubt about that, but that’s what almost all of them do - including Trump.

He only wanted to sue if it didn’t benefit him personally. Apparently that problem was solved. I’m sure Elevance will be a top donor for his next campaign.

What’s frightening is the use of a Foundation to tax us without our vote. We might as well abolish all sales tax and have businesses pay into a foundation.
