Its okay. Check out Independence Hall and the liberty Bell, the rocky steps and where Ben Franklin is buried. Battleship New Jersey is cool but I think its in dry dock. Reading Terminal Market is great. Get a cheese-steak but avoid Pats & Genos

They have a hop on hop off bus tour that is decent.
Art Museum is great.
Lots of Rodan
They have all the sports teams.
Great Italian food.

Great sports town. Very good food scene. A couple of fantastic art museums. Very nice bike/walking trail along the river. Definitely enough for a long weekend even if you aren’t into the history.

Philly isn’t bad for a long weekend. As other posters have said, lots of historical sites.
The Reading Terminal Market, specifically DiNic’s and the Victor Cafe are must do’s when we’re there.
The Victor Cafe was the restaurant Adrian’s in Rocky Balboa and Creed I and II. The waiters are all singers for the Philadelphia Opera and every 20 minutes they will sing for the patrons. Cool experience and they have a nice but tiny lounge upstairs.

If you’re looking for historical sites, maybe try Charleston or Savannah instead?
If you’re set on doing something up northeast, I recommend flying into Hartford or Boston and getting a car to drive through New England.
There’s a lot of literary historical sites: Mark Twain and Harriet Beecher Stowe houses in Hartford. Emily Dickinson and Edith Wharton houses are a short drive across the MA border in western Mass.

Here Be Bar goes to Philly
If you take the trip to Valley Forge head up the road and get lunch and have a beer in Phoenixville. Its a great little town. (Smash Burger at Root Down TBD)
Taking the train or driving to Atlantic City not a bad idea as well.
Have fun...but don't go to Kensington

This is the worst part about philly. The homeless will try and fight you if you dont give them change

Curious...what town does she live in? I lived in Royersford for 5 years and King of Prussia for two years while working in Norristown. There really is no place in Montgomery County i would feel uncomfortable in. Philly has some bad neighborhoods but you can avoid that.

I love Philly.
Agree with most of what's posted here - get some Amish baked goods at Reading Terminal Market.

I recommend a drive through Pennsylvania. See Amish country.
Check out the covered bridges and the mountains they have.
It was a nice drive and I had a good road trip going across Penn.

I was at Twin Peaks yesterday and ran into a guy from Blue Bell, PA which is in Montgomery County close to where I used to work in Norristown.
It made me realize how much I miss Pennsylvania.
Take the trip and let us know how it went

This, plus an elite dining scene. The mouthbreathers making comments like “id rather get a root canal” have probably never been.
I love traveling to the northeast and exploring big cities rich with American history.... Philadelphia is the only city I really didn't enjoy.
One day is enough to tour all the historic landmarks, the rest of the city sucks.
I've been to NYC, Boston and DC multiple times each and wouldn't hesitate to go back. I spent 2 days in Philly and have zero interest to ever return.

air enough. If yall are history fans, plan a Trip to Gettysburg if going to Pennsylvania.
Just clicked the thread to suggest Gettysburg/Lancaster for a summer trip to that area. Not a huge fan of spending extended time in Philly itself.

Add the Mutter Museum to the list. It’s a museum of medical oddities collected over the last 200 years.

Where do you live? Any other cities on your list?

Didn't see it mentioned, but the US Mint is pretty good museum. It's free and you can get through it in 30 minutes if you don't want to spend a lot of time there. It's right down the street from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. Ben Franklin's grave is across the street.
You should be able to walk wherever you want if you're staying close to city center, but ubers are very easy. The subway is efficient, but it's pretty disgusting and I'm not one to really get grossed out by things like that. I've been on it plenty of times as my sister in law and her husband live about a half mile south of Rittenhouse Square. Philly is gritty to say the least, but if you're only going for a weekend, you should be able to stay busy and see enough.
