This incident essentially forced me off the political awareness train. When there wasn’t immediately complete and total disdain for it, I realized that there are forces at work in American politics that I have no control over nor ever will have. It’s an institution that is allowed to thrive in its own universe that just isn’t for people like the average citizen.
There’s no reason to follow it, to get upset about it, to care or not to care. It doesn’t matter. Your vote doesn’t matter. The 24 hour news cycle doesn’t matter. It’s entertainment.
Whomever wishes to remain attentive to politics - you’re a pawn. You don’t matter to any of these people in the slightest. You’re an annoyance to them with no power. Why give something your attention to that pays you no dividends.
There’s no reason to follow it, to get upset about it, to care or not to care. It doesn’t matter. Your vote doesn’t matter. The 24 hour news cycle doesn’t matter. It’s entertainment.
